Stephen
Which goes to Colorado Thanks to the trade for Duchene which made Joe Sakic look competent and has freed up cap space for Colorado (Conditional 1st Round Pick for this year's draft)
BrooksBurner
It’s hard to believe that there weren’t better offers for EK. Honestly it seems like a fair price for a trade at the deadline, let alone a full year's worth with first dibs at an extension for EK.

Sod16
I'm not at all impressed with what Ottawa got. As has been noted on this board many times, picks in the high 20s have a relatively low yield when it comes to major NHL players. SJ is getting the inside track on signing a two time Norris winner and getting him for a year for a run at the cup. I'm surprised there were not better offers. Puck Head
I thought Ottawa did well enough A few top young prospects NHL defenseman 40 point forward And a ton of potential picks Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

Possibly only a one year player with a significant injury risk and only teams that have a legitimate shot at competing this year in the mix? The field is pretty thin. Phil
When it's a known fact that a player wants out, you're never going to get the optimum value. Least of all when said player spends six months on the market.

Kevin
Least of all when said player spends six months on the market. Right. Like purchasing a house that's been on the market that long. You're never going to offer them asking price!
Phil
If Ottawa was wiling to backoff some on their asking price at the deadline, he's undoubtedly a Golden Knight today, and the return would likely have been significant still. Suzuki, for example, would probably have been included since it was reported that one of the reasons it didn't happen was Ottawa's insistence on Vegas including either Cody Glass or Erik Br?nnstr?m. BrooksBurner
The trade makes me feel much better about the return that the Rangers got for McDonagh (which I was already fine with anyway). This isnt that much more.
