Long live the King
How is it a luxury to just leave your kids? That's hard on kids and I'd imagine hard on a father. It sucks for kids who change schools in the middle of the year too. Because the average person wouldn't have the choice
josh
a.) understand you make a lot of money, that will help your kids in the future, during this temporary situation b.) have kids when you retire

People change jobs, get divorced, and move a heck of a lot.

People change jobs, get divorced, and move a heck of a lot. "Normal" parents get home at 5, 6 o'clock. Kids go to bed at 8. Players have games 2 or 3 nights a week, if they are home games. Anyone think Rick is changing diapers in the middle of the night, or getting up at 530am to get the kid ready for day care?

Anyone think Rick is changing diapers in the middle of the night, or getting up at 530am to get the kid ready for day care? And kids with divorced parents see daddy two days a week in most cases. I think my point was more about how athletes kids are used to not seeing their athlete parent on the typical "normal" daily. Not sure how much a trade changes the lifestyle they already are apart of. Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
Buhu, Nash will be away from his kids for about 4 months, while cashing checks of millions of dollars and playing for a Stanley cup before he can retire at the age of 35 and be set for life. Must be hard.
Dunny
I'm a guy whose away from his three kids way too much. It sucks. But it's a choice. Our gut feeling is that it's better to keep them in school, in a small town, where they're well established, even at their young age, then to move to where I'm based out of for work so I can see them for an hour every evening. I work from home about one week out of three so we survive. As I said it's a choice, life's full of them.

People change jobs, get divorced, and move a heck of a lot. I never said it was harder. I'm honestly baffled at people discrediting the difficulty, even if its just emotion, of players getting traded to another city and having to choose to leave their kids for a few months or uproot their entire family. OF COURSE it is difficult, and it's sad for the kids.
Phil
You guys are missing my point completely. The point is that any GM who is a human being—who has empathy—must account for the fact that many of his players are at a different stage in their life, and as such, must factor that into any decisions they make regarding trading them. It wouldn't stop me entirely from trading a player, but it's something I'd certainly be sensitive to.

Sod16
I know goalies are different, but the pittance the Wings got for Mrazek might not bode well. Some sellers have inflated expectations (probably due to what the Rangers gave up for Smith and others over the past four years).

SaveByRichter35
I have a feeling Nash will be traded to Nash today. I wasn't going to say anything but I have a friend who mentioned something last night on facebook to expect "something big tomorrow"(today). Has a friend on the "inside" who is saying to expect a trade today, "buckle up" "already a few trades in place, one "quite big" likely happening tomorrow"(today). Does not believe Mac, Zuc, or Miller will be moved "at this time". Again, this is just an "I know a guy who says he knows a guy" situation. Don't quote me on anything, just adding discussion to the conversation. Frankly when I read all of that the first person I thought of was @Mikey37 on here, I'd love for him to chime in with any insider scoop he may have. edit - I guess you can't tag people on this board? Is that a function that can be enabled or is that not something vBulletin supports? Another board I am on, not a vBulletin site, allows you to tag other users.
