Last year they had NO ONE to put into the lineup that could fight (for the 2nd Captials game). They had to put in rookie Barron to just look a little bigger. Now they got two players thats huge and know how to fight if that would happen again this season. There's no problem with the cap, they gave up only a 3rd round pick and they won't play every game. Again - everyone wanted this from the start, but every trade/signing/draft pick has been bad somehow. I dont get it.

Honestly dont understand how people get mad at this. They have two 2nd round picks next year, who gives a fuck about a (hopefully) late 3rd? Tinordi won't play every night, neither will Reeves, but now we can atleast manage to dress atleast one of them at all time. And if we have a "Wilson situation" again next season we won't have to use Strome and Blackwell to fight the next game. Everyone agreed after last season that this is what was needed. Maybe they brought in one or two guys too many, but that doesnt really care since the cap this season is no problem. Out: Buch (cap and no place in the top 6 for him), Howden, DiGi, Blackwell, Smith In: Goodrow, Blais, Reeves, Tinordi, Nemeth, Its exactly what everyone wanted. A "veteran" 3LD, a 3rd line grinder and a 4th line face-puncher. I do have a feeling Chytil might be on the way out, and that they're looking at something like this: Laf - Mika - Kakko Panarin - Strome - Krav Kreider - Goodrow - Blais Barron - Rooney - Reeves Lindgren - Fox Miller - Trouba Nemeth - Lundkvist No prospects "blocked", but the team is much more suited to play "playoff hockey" than last year. That 3rd line could be a real identity line and that 4th line can be a really annoying "in your face line" and that top 6 is stacked with talent. Top 4 D's remain the same, but the 3rd pair went from Hajek - Smith to Nemeth - Lundkvist, that should be a huge upgrade.

Yeah, this doesnt really make sense. If Chytil now continue to progress and they'll be forced to dump him (like with Buch) because there's just not enough cap space to pay him what he deserves. If they went for something like 4x3.5m, worst case they trade him (maybe with some retention) after a year or two. Best case he progresses into a really good player and they have him on the cheap for a few seasons. If we want any "good contracts" they need to take some chances. Can't just bridge everyone untill they have proven that they're good enough, but at the same time prices themselves out.

Man you need to watch more TBL then. Point is amazing. Like Phil said, he does everything at an elite level. 28 goals, 56 points in 46 playoff games in the b2b SC-wins. That's fucking superstar HOF'er stats.

I've actually been involved in a similar case. I was 18, the girl(s) was 16/17. It was a party going too far and things ended up getting filmed. None of the girls said anything at the moment, clearly knowing that things were filmed (with flashlight in a dark room). The videos got sent around and one of the girls (that had a boyfriend at the time) regret what she did that night and claimed she was "too drunk to remember anything". She went to the police weeks after the incident and reported it as rape, eventhough it was clearly no rape. The videos showed it and her friends testified against it. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I just want to say that there's a HUGE difference between a video (even if the girl claim she didn't consent to the videos being taken/sent) and rape and its important to remember that. There's no nuances with rape. Oh, and ruining a boys career and future over this is very extreme. He will be punished, people will remember what he did, but man has this been blown out of proportion. I don't know about you old heads, but this is pretty "normal" nowadays (no, im not trying to justify it, im just saying it happens WAY more often than people think). You should obviously be punished for it, but not get your life ended.

Nah, Nemeth is gonna play. They dont pay a dude 2.5m for 3 years to watch the games on TV. You sign a guy thats not really good, but has a "use case" to a league minimum to be 7/8th D. Most likely it will be Jones and Tinordi as the 7th and 8th D. Jones is a small, puck-moving rookie so it makes sense that the other dude is an experienced 6'6 face puncher.

I don't think anyone has said anything close to that. You get so defensive with Strome lol. Its just that with a "soft, skill-only 1C" making 9-10m its not a good fit having a 2C thats also extremely "soft and skill-only" making ~6m. Besides having chemistry with Panarin (and yes, I know he played ~10 games without Panarin) what does he bring to the table? He's not good defensively, he dont PK, he's not good at faceoffs. Its a lot to pay 6m just because "he puts up points and has chemistry with our star". Panarin's worst season in the NHL was 31g, 74p in 82 games. He will be just fine without Strome.
