we meet again. Canes in 7!

To address an earlier post, Pesce is expected to be back for this series BTW.

NOT looking forward to your annual takeover of our arena however. We have actual season ticket holders that will be pulling for the Rangers! LOL

Report is they expect Pesce to play games in the series, but they're not sure at what point. And how good will he be when he comes back from an ankle injury? Good enough to get away from Rempe? We'll see!

I think Rangers fans are underestimating the Canes. They're a great team, well-coached, and relentless. Going to be a battle and the Rangers need to be sharp defensively because the Hurricanes have more of a high-end, in Guentzel and a healthy Svechnikov, than they have in past playoffs.

I think you're underestimating the Rangers. They're a great team, well-coached, and can play any kind of game the opponent throws at them. Going to be a battle and the Canes need to be sharp defensively because they're missing 2 NHL D-men, one of their best defensive forwards, and their goalie can get injured or lose confidence at any point based on how his career has went so far.

I hate this going narrative… The way some of you talk about Carolina you’d think they were a dynasty or something.

theres a reason, even with the rangers many flaws, they the rangers stayed above them

in the standings ALL SEASON LONG.

    they’re better then Washington.

theyre not better than the rangers.

    we own this team*

*= provided they show up and play their game. We can never be certain of this.

Agreed. Too many people here think Carolina is good on purpose and the Rangers are good by accident.

These teams are quite close with the Rangers having an obvious edge in goaltending.

Do the Rangers need to play their best hockey to win? Yes. Does Carolina also need to play their best hockey to win? Yes. Did either team play their best hockey through 100% of the previous series? No.

But only one team swept their opponent...

Just more proof playoffs are a wildcard.

People here are complaining about the Rangers even though they just swept the Capitals yet Carolina just is talked about here as head and shoulders above the Rangers... yet they can't even close out the Islanders properly?

It's like people just want to look for any little nitpick to show the team is bad because that's what fits their narrative.

And now that he does that consistently you’re still expecting even more.

If Kreider was what you believe he should be he would be the best player in the league and making twice what he does.

The problem is you selectively remember things that I say and then try to throw certain other things back in my face out of context in some childish game. Weird obsession. Find another hobby.

I never complained about his goal scoring prowess. Not once. What I've said is that it's incredible he scores the amount of goals he does while shooting the puck so little.

It's other areas of his game that are lacking, mainly physicality and the forecheck, and his contribution on the cycle is non-existent, which means his line mates need to work harder.

There's more to hockey than goal scoring. He's a player with many tools at his disposal, yet he only uses one of them.

Why stop at 200...could have scored 400. He is arguably a top 5 Rangers player of all time......yet people are upset he didn't have Gretzky's career.

I'm not upset he didn't have Gretzky's career, I'm upset he didn't have the career he could have had.

CROSSED OUT THE TOTAL AND PAID A DIFFERENT AMOUNT! LMFAO

I told you guys this. This guy's an extortionist. He extorted the entire NHL. To think that what went down wasn't his plan all along would be crazy. I don't think he knew how much money he would make, but he knew he was going to be able to sell the team for more than what he bought it for, which was his plan all along. To never invest anything in the team, it was a total cash grab.

Well you’re just wrong on both accounts here.

There are plenty of examples, but the premise you started with that Kreider’s position on the PP has anything to do with Lafreniere is honestly just nuts. I don’t know of any teams who put their first overall picks in front of the net on the PP, in a position where the puck isn’t on their stick to create chances and take shots.

Netfront is probably relegated to second overall picks I guess?

Because here's Byfield playing net front for the LA Kings.

Draft position has nothing to do with where you are positioned on the power play.

    Look who's wrong now!

I'm "coming at you" because the Kreider hate is starting to get ridiculous. 3-4 years ago it was warranted when you complained about his lack of consistency, but now it makes no sense. He's been great for 3 years, yet you take every chance you get to put him down or say some shit about him.

What was even the point about that comment you made? I would think a Laf and Kreider stan actually loves it right now. They're both playing amazing and helps the team every night. I don't see why, especially as a Rangers fan as well, it would be tough to support those two players. What must be tough is being Kreider's biggest hater over the last 3 years. That must've sucked.

You have a wild fixation with me. You act like I'm the only one who complains about Kreider. Go take your arguments up with everybody else who feels the same as I do, cuz there are quite a few.

It hasn't sucked hating Kreider at all. It's actually been really easy, because no matter what stats you want to throw up, the fact is if he wasn't half-assed all the time his stats would be even better.

The funny thing is when he was a close to a 30 goal scorer and I said he was capable of more, people like you bitched and moaned about it. Then he scored 50, 40, and you're all on that dick... But I was right all along about him having the ability to put up more goals than he was.

    So yeah, I'm still right.

Lafreniere’s main problem didn’t have anything to do with opportunity. It is evident that it was pretty solely related to his physical training.

Well you spent a large amount of time arguing otherwise.

    Quote

Zibanejad and Panarin block Lafreniere on the PP because those are the positions he would be playing. Kreider blocks…Will Cuylle as a big net front presence I guess? No biggie.

No they don't. Maybe Panarin but not Zib. Left handed shots on the left half wall aren't much of a thing if you look at other successful PPs. They want one-timers.

I wanted him traded because I didn't see them being competitive so fast and I thought Kreider would net a huge return.

I was fine with 6.5m, but didn't like the term.

This is how almost everybody felt, myself included.

I clearly remember you saying numerous times that we don't gift players ice-time, they have to earn it. Guess what - Kreider has earned both the ice-time, the PP time AND the PK time because he's been amazing for three years now.

Lafreniere had his first good season this year, playing with Panarin. He hasn't deserved anything before this season and we're not breaking up a top 3 PP in league to shoehorn in a guy that has 57 points as a career high. And even if they were to do that Kreider would probably be the last option to take out. He's the one with a unique skillset on the PP. Fox. Mika, Panarin and Trocheck pretty much plays the same way.

I don't know why you're coming at me, oh wait, I do...You're always trying to get me in some "gotcha" moment that doesn't exist.

I doesn't matter what I said about ice time. I'm talking to Laf stans (which I was not) who said the reason he sucked for 3 years was role and no PP time—But a lot of those folks also stan Kreider...So you can't whine about Lafreniere not getting PP time and also be on Krieder's jock...Who was going to take reduced ice time or be taken off the PP for Lafreniere? Wasn't gonna be Panarin.

Can't have it both ways, whine about not giving Laf a larger role and also praise the guy standing in his way.

  13. It must be tough to stand Kreids and Lafreniere, since Kreider is pretty much the main reason Lafreniere hasn't gotten the prime ice time and PP time other #1 picks get.

Can't have it both ways (if anyone is among the "team messed up Lafreniere development" crowd.

Not that anyone likes Cooper but he’s absolutely right. The officiating has been so atrocious this year and last nights game is yet another example. Bobrovsky is in no way unable to do his job on either of those plays. It probably cost Tampa the game last night and it’s going to cost someone a series in a close one if the league doesn’t figure this out.

We’ve been on both ends of these interference calls all year and the reality is nobody has any fucking clue, which means either the rule is bad or the implementation is bad, so it’s up to the league to fix it.

The rule is really simple and it's not being enforced.

You cannot enter the crease area on your own. If you're pushed in by a defenseman or during a battle, that's fair game. Neither one of those plays were intentional interference with the goalie with the express purpose of stopping him from performing his duties.

Cooper is 💯 correct. They're the ones wearing all the pads, but if you breathe on them it's interference.
