  2. They've been a significantly better team this week. Might be happenstance, might not be.
  3. It's 100% Zib not scoring. Zib's shooting percentage has absolutely cratered. He finds the net at the pace he was last season, he's already on 5 goals and we're not having this conversation. It's also, bluntly, that Trouba on the point on the PP2 makes Quinn never want to roll them out. We have a top tier PP1 that's not quite ticking, and then a smorgasbord of the unknown.
  4. Seeing as the asset in question going the other way can't beat his own goalie in a fistfight...er....Libor Hajek for ice time...
  5. I think that even if he ends up in our top 9, he'll have more of a 2nd line like role. He's currently playing mostly on a checking unit with Milan Lucic and Mikael Backlund. Occasionally they get Frolik or Mangiapane or Derek Ryan. What will he get here - figure Lafreniere or Kreider and PDG or Kravtsov? Big upgrades.
  6. What's the point of this? Are they afraid they're possibly creating an artificial virus bubble?
  7. He's been a historically decent faceoff guy - wins more than he loses for sure - but he's played more wing than C these last few years. He wants to play C, and he wants a top 6/9 spot from what I gather.
  8. Bluntly - who do you give the C to if it isn't Kreider? Trouba hasn't been there. He's had one miracle-ish playoff run amidst a lot of losing. Panarin is a wunderkind; leave him be. Zib is kind of the same thing as Trouba - he's had one real good run If Kreider isn't the guy, you've exhausted your "legit veteran leaders" group, and you have to start looking at who leads the youth. You have to be thinking it's Fox, Lafreniere, maybe Miller. None of them are even remotely ready for that.
  9. Perhaps if Gauthier stopped scratching his ass and started putting pucks in the net... At 6'4 230 I get that there's a good deal of ass to scratch here, but cmon.
  10. It's sort of odd because we have to consider a few truly weird things that make this rebuild "not normal", not the least of which is that our younger players lost 10 months of development time because of the pandemic, and their ability to grow as players and professionals is still somewhat hampered by it. Our rebuild is over in the sense that we've got the assets to piece the team together. It's not over in the sense that we're heading into phase 2 here - translating the talent into on-ice outcomes.
  11. My toddler has decided that bacon bits are actually pepperoni seeds. As in, they can be planted and will grow into pepperoni..pepperonis?
  12. There are a few fits that make a good deal of sense, imo. Calgary for Bennett is one of them. I'd look at Minnesota - they have one RD on the team and they're absolutely swimming in players around the level we'd hope for (MoJo comes to mind, but also someone like a Greenway who just desperately needs a change of scenery). I'd think Vancouver too - again, real light on RDs. Not sure there's a simpatico turnaround there - Brandon Sutter, perhaps? Wonder if Chicago for Shaw is a thing. Not in love with it, but he's cheaper and definitely fills a need.
  13. You all should PM me your Peloton tags. I'll get a hashtag going and see if we can't organize a few rides together. I do have a tendency to ride while watching the Rangers.
  14. I find myself in Kendall Toole's classes more often than not because her playlists are awesome. She's got zero fucks given when it comes to output - I'm always like +/- 10 of my PR in her classes. So it's an ass-beating and a good listen. She did a 45 minute Metallica ride a few months back that was both the most awesome and highest recovery need ever. Really like Hannah Corbin for a balanced workout - same with Alex Toussaint. Olivia's one of the Powerzone instructors, so she's always a tough class. Jenn Sherman when you need a workout with a New Yorker with no filter (which is novel when you're not in NY proper). Definitely do the warmups and stretches. It's really helpful.
  15. Yeah, and we're one of them. It really boils down to asset value. Either way, Tony hits the cap this year and next. If there's no value in trading him, he's bought out and he's going to have an almost trivial hit next year (383k), and a slightly higher hit the year after (883k). For the Rangers, the question becomes something like "is the asset you're sending back worth us taking a cap hit greater than 400K next year, or is the return value so low that we're better off just buying him out?" This isn't a dead cap for dead cap thing; this is a reclamation project for reclamation project sort of thing for Gorton.
  16. Honestly...it's really good. I'm surprised by how much I like it, and we went ahead and took an old TV, bought a Fire stick, and set it up near our bike so we can do floor workouts in the same space. I tend to pick workouts based on playlists more than instructors. Most classes can sufficiently kick my ass. Do you have a favorite so far?
  17. First off, this is the nerdiest fucking conversation we've ever had on this board and I am HERE FOR IT. Nice! The charts there are interesting - he's spending so much time in the low slot...why? Let's get him higher up on the ice. He played well against Pitt, imo, and I'm looking forward to seeing those shots go in soon.
  18. When we're talking about retention, we're talking about three items: 1 - When are we taking the dead cap hit? 2 - How much? 3 - What's the incentive for retaining? "Being rid" of ADA is not enough of an incentive. The plan for this year included him from the jump, and the buyout cost is nominal. How much we retain will be 100% about the return coming to the Rangers.
