  1. For a "win now" team, this is a terrible move. I hate Lafreniere, but at the very least he's a warm body on a cap strapped team. Unless you could arrange some sort of Jack Bauer "rescue a hostage from the Russian consulate" mission for Michkov, you absolutely don't do this. And, even if it's not Michkov, none of the players outside the top 3, maybe 4, are NHL-ready. So you're waiting a year at least, which the Rangers cannot do.
  2. I just got Diablo IV. Let's see if I can finish this shit before I have another baby in August.
  3. I can buy his lack of PP time is suppressing his point production, but that doesn't account for the fact he doesn't do anything particularly impressive with the ice time he does get. If he was dazzling with his obvious skills, blowing past players with blazing speed, or doing something actually beneficial, it would be a different story. Like I hate to "eye test" this discussion, but I think it's valid in this case - especially when the article in the OP talks about his lack of dedication and preparation.
  4. The thing is they have a ton of cap space and many of their core, young players are locked up long term for $8M or less. They can blow a ton of cap on Hellyebuck and still be good, especially with the cap going up next year. It's horrible to say this, but they're primed to content for a while.
  5. It's definitely make or break. He's getting a bridge deal. So the question is, is he being bridged to a potential big next contract or another 2-year "show me" probably with some other team? The ball is fully in his court. Regarding work ethic stuff, I'm surprised a guy like Kreider hasn't been able to reach this kid and read him the riot act.
  6. It's just a hard pill to swallow when you're making all of those considerations for a player who commands an $8M cap hit.
  7. This is the guy I took a wild guess the Rangers would pick in @siddious's off-season prediction game lol
  8. I'm going to curb my hype for the Cyberpunk expansion considering what we saw from the base game. I really enjoyed the main game, but it clearly didn't meet expectations. Reading some of the previews sites have put up makes me think they didn't learn their lesson the first time around.
  9. Totally agree on 18. At first I was like wtf is this shit and then by the end I was fully on board.
  10. I'm not. Their window is the next two years. Laviolette has to know that. Beyond that, the future is uncertain with Shesterkin's contract expiring and their massive contracts aging even further. This is probably the safest option of all the coaches available and for that reason it doesn't really instill a lot of confidence or excitement.
  11. Hopefully this goes better than his first stint with the Rangers.
  12. Great win for the nation of Canada Major props to the security guard for the great tackle on Adam Hadwin celebrating with his friend.
  13. Not to turn this into that thread, but the Rangers absolutely should not pay Shesterkin unless they significantly change their contract structure. The kids never panned out, they have too many huge contracts, and, even with the cap going up, good teams just don't pay their goalies big money.
  14. YEah Monahan is going to come out of this a lot richer, but he looks like a giant tool
  15. This is completely shocking. I've been following the drama since it all began, and there wasn't even the slightest hint of this happening. The inevitable documentary on this is going to be must-watch. I just saw someone compare this to when Dunder Mifflin bought out the Michael Scott Paper Company lol
  16. I am not really interested in what other teams are doing or did, but the fact is the Rangers still don't have a head coach and they're not interviewing a potential candidate. Perhaps there's more to it, but I don't like the look.
  17. Not even an interview? I have zero faith in this front office.
  18. What do you mean "lots of mileage"? They beat the Leafs in 5 and the Canes in 4 - one more game than the minimum required lol
  19. Yeah for sure, but they're keeping up and climbing out of the early hole they dug themselves. A lot of positives to takeaway from the past few weeks.
