2020 Offseason Thread: Get to Fixin'
CaptainMorganBarron replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I would say Trouba's mistakes are being ignored by most because he is "a new shiny toy" also it would reflect badly on Gorton if the Rosen and Joe start picking Trouba apart. Skinner is relevant in terms of he might be ready much sooner than Trouba's contract expires. -

mentioning Smith is a good idea, because it is better to play him on RD than buy him out and because Lundkvist will only come over after his season ends probably in March or April. -

why would he though? Is there some issue? -

nobody is "willing it into existence" it is common sense to explore a trade. 1. He makes brutal mistakes 2. he is overpaid 3. Smith can play RD just fine and provide physicality 4. we have ADA, Fox, Lundkvist, and Skinner on RD -

Holloway will fall especially with NCAA uncertainty, no way he goes anywhere near 11th. -

I have a feeling Toronto could be very interested in Trouba. -

So we want : Bruins to beat the Caines Blackhawks beat LVGK Blue Jackets beat Tampa Islanders beat Washington Coyotes beat Avs Canadiens beat Flyers Canucks beat Blues Does not matter to us if Dallas/Calgary wins, except we own Dallas' 3rd rounder so we want them to lose. -

I think we are still at 10th or 11th or 1st. Toronto is 13th/14th? I don't think they will win the lottery, they don't even need more scoring. So likely Carolina has Toronto's pick and we got Carolina pick, go Bruins! -

Will the fact that Euro leagues are resuming before the draft while CHL only in December have a significant impact on the draft order? I think it might. -

Mercer is an interesting prospect, but I think taking him at #11 is a reach, but if he slips to our 2nd pick or we trade down then yes. His production seems to have went downhill after the trade and had 0 points in 7 WJC games. does that mean he is great defensively and was used in a defensive role or his offense is overrated? -

Good analysis on Lundell: I think we need players like that, we have too many one dimensional forwards. BTW his teams won the gold medal in U18 and U20 WJC. And his lack of flashiness and scoring is easily attributed to playing it safe because he wasn't playing against 17 yearolds. -

Problem with Quinn is the 2018/19 season. He just turned 17 at the start of the season, so he wasn't that young and all he managed to produce was 32 points in 61 games. If he was born few days earlier he could have gone undrafted last year. And I don't see him as a Power Forward: if he is now 6'1" it will solidify him get picked in the top 12. I am not sure how up to date Liiga's website is on player stats, NHL is not always up to date. -
Seattle Expansion Draft — Who Are the Rangers Protecting?

They can move him, their asking price is probably too much. with Andersson I think asking price is a 2nd rounder + maybe some later pick (5th- 7th rounder). -

I think you underestimate his offensive ability a little. He is your 2nd/3rd line center that can produce 40-60 points that can be used in a shutdown role. Think of best memories/qualities of Brandon Dubinsky. -

Quinn is listed 5'11" 176 lbs Lundell listed 6'1" 187 lbs please show me either an article describing Quinn as a power forward or some video footage that indicates he is that. They are both good prospects you prefer Quinn, I think Lundell is more of what we need. There is no question Quinn has a higher offensive ceiling, but that is not everything to me. -

There is no way Lias Andersson is not traded by that time. There is no way they protect Gauthier over Lemieux or Howden.
