  1. I’m fine either way with kreider. Curious though how some are worried about him living up to $6m over 4 of 5 years but panarain at $12m for 7 years is not a concern. Crazy to me.

I'd like us to continue as we are right now; rebuilding with youth. Panarin is a tremendous young player, but that is a LOT of years and A LOT of green!

I may not be positive, but I don't think any of the teams in the final four this year have a player making over $8 million a year (Brent Burns).

  2. I just think there are going to be better options than Kreider when the time comes. This squad is still a bit away from being seriously competitive. Kreider has talent, and will definitely fare pretty well for another team...and I really hope he does!! I just don't think he's a fit here anymore, due to the whole rebuilding factor. These kids are going to need time and space to grow; Yeah Kreider can score 30 goals, but we've seen his disappearing act for years now. He's got speed, sure...when he wants to use it, but I simply don't think this guy's going to play up to this upcoming contract with the Rangers.

    I think Phil hit it on the nose;

The guy's a good player, most likely top 6. But after his speed starts to diminish, even a little....who do we have? A slower, lazier big contract we can't get rid of or will have to buy out because of the next really good player in the draft.

I think it's best to trade somebody like him if there is truly a better option of acquiring a better prospect, or draft pick. Honestly, I like Kreider, but his inability to play consistent hockey at a high level is really wearing on me.

  3. I think the work is finding a way to rid ourselves of some dead weight.

But between Fox, Lindgren, Hajek, Lundkvist, Miller, Rykov, Gross, and maybe to a lesser extent Gilmour, the depth is there and that's just what's in the system. Who knows who we might sign **Cough cough** Karlsson

Skjei and DeAngelo are probably the only two current Rangers Dmen I'd want to keep.

I don't think there's anyway around it, Triple B. We're gonna be stuck with them for a couple of years. But...

I'd like to use that 20th pick to get that 6' 4' German defenseman Moritz Seider, or possibly one that falls to us...maybe Cam York or Matthew Robertson. By the time they're ready to play in the NHL, Staal and Shatty will be gone. Then they can slide right in there as our next big time stoppers.

No need to go waste precious cap money on some of those guys.

  4. Seider seems to have fallen in some of the rankings I've seen. I feel like he was ranked pretty steadily in the high teens, but I'm seeing him more and more in the low 20s to mid 20s.

Not a big fall, mind you.

He's a "stay at Home" type defenseman with some offensive ability and physical toughness. I haven't seen a lot of him, but I've been following some of the hype now that we're in that 20 spot. Lord knows we can use some young stability on that back line. This might be our guy at #20.

This kid's got some insight on him:

  5. Too much history between Shero and Hughes. I doubt he passes.

I'm with you, Big G! I actually think in the long run, Hughes is going to be the face of the Devils for years to come. The kid is really good....small, yeah, but he's just a kid. I'm getting the printing press ready to tack on a #24 Kakko on nice new Blue NY Rangers Jersey this fall!

  6. I seriously doubt the Devils pass on Hughes. The best part of this whole thing is that both players are going to be tremendous assets to both teams. The Rangers could use either one, and both will be tremendous in their own right.

I really am digging the fact that all the pressure is on NJ though. We can't go wrong either way; Whomever the Devils take, they're going to be second guessed by somebody.

  7. LW crew of Panarin, Kreider, Lemieux, Andersson... o-my.

I'm starting to feel that blood flow again!!!

I would be completely OK with those lines. The defense on the other hand....

Rome wasn't built in a day, Sharpie!! But I think Fox is going to be a vital piece of the puzzle. We definitely have some work to do back there!!!

  8. Agree about not signing or keeping someone because of sentimentality, but Zucc is still a very good player.

No doubt!! Very good indeed....but the way I'm looking at it RMC, is that Dallas didn't win with him, and they're light years ahead of where the Rangers are right now. By the time these new young players are going to be contenders, Zucc will be past his usefulness on the ice, in my estimation.

I think we'd be better off freeing up that spot for a younger player that may play his way into the lineup for the long term, and not block up spots with aging vets.

But yeah, Zucc is a soldier, and a good one at that!! I want him to continue his career and I would have loved to see him win it all this year. I wish the guy only the best; He was a great Ranger player!

  9. They said the same of Toronto. Which goes to say that if you're transparent from top-to-bottom, any city, anywhere, in any sport can go along with any plan. You just have to show the rationale and be forthright about the long-term gain over short-term pain.

The thing I actually liked a lot in that interview is where he mentions how the fan base was "up in arms" because we won those last 2 games against Columbus and Pittsburgh and then "Hockey Karma" struck back in a good way.... I think it's at the :30 second mark.

They knew we wanted them to tank!!!

  10. I think Zuc was their best player last night besides Bishop.

Bishop was a GOD last night...without him it could have been over early.....REAL EARLY! But yeah I hope Zuc likes it down there and signs on. He's played his way to a good deal and I hope he gets it! He's been a great soldier for us, and I would've really liked to have seen them win that one last night, but like Sharpy said, "the better team won".

The Blues deserve it and good luck to them the rest of the way.

I was happy for Berube; he's worked his ass off in this league and glad to see him succeed on this level.

  11. Well don't worry fellas cause Dallas really screwed that up real quick... 2 first rounders are going to have to do.

Damn i really wanted that extra 1st!!!!

Fucking Dallas.... That city and its teams can all suck it.

I've heard next year's draft is deeper than this year. And if Zuc re-signs and we get their 1st we could very well have two lottery picks.

They had 3 GREAT chances to win that game....That one backhander in front....UGH!!!! Open net.....

Ahh well, no worries boys....Zucc had a pretty good showing, and maybe they'll resign him....we can always hope!

  12. 4-7m is the danger zone.

Love Kreider. But I don’t pay for nuthin!

There's no possible way to field a team without paying anyone $4-$7 million. It's a pipe dream.

That said, given injuries and inconsistency, I'm not paying Kreider JVR money or anything close.

Sign me up on this one... Cya CK!

I hope he has a decent season though so we can get back some good value, maybe even pair him with.................ahhh no one's taking those dead weight contracts!! :deadhorse:

  13. It's probably going to happen but it would kind of be reactionary to just do it without interviewing other people. So far we know they were just interested in JD and Yzerman. But, why not look around and maybe interview a few people who are perhaps younger and could be with the organization more long term. I'm not dismissing that JD hasn't done a good job with Columbus and St. Louis, but I wouldn't really rush into hiring him either.

That stipulation about him being able to opt out of his deal with the Blue Jackets to be President of the Rangers is pretty funny, though.

Sometimes it not WHAT you say, it's what you DON'T SAY!!!!

...think JD's wanted this all along....and I'm am ALL FOR IT!!! The guy is going to be great here; He comes with experience and is in my eyes a natural fit to NYC, plus I'm sure he's pretty familiar with the MSG family still.

Add in the fact that he's very entertaining!!!

I can't help it, I was always a JD guy! Bring it on, big fella!!!
