  1. I can just see the home opener....

You guys know the deal; Out come the Rangers on to the ice and we're all chanting K-A-K-K-O, K-A-K-K-O, K-A-K-K-O, K-A-K-K-O!!!!!

This kid is going to shit himself! He's never even been to NY, no less a NY Rangers game! I really can't wait to watch his reaction to this stuff! I bet he's gonna absolutely love NY....and I'm gonna enjoy every second of this trip we're about to go on for the next 12-15 years!!!!

Kinda reminds me of back when I was 8 years old, I was at the game in '75, the reaction when Eddie Giacomin came back as a Red Wing and the whole place went wild when he came out on the ice!! We even booed when Vickers scored late in the game!!

He made about 40 saves during the game, and I remember everyone chanting "EDDIE"...all night long. Still one of my favorite memories of the old days at MSG.

  2. I just don't see him in the long term scenario. he's fun to watch, especially towards the end of the season. He was making things happen on the ice but I also of opinion that he's a pain in the ass for the coaches. I could be wrong, of course.

I think this is going to be a much more telling season, CC. The Rangers now have a direction, and a plan of attack. Last year it just seemed to be more of an experiment with players and coach getting used to the big show, and others adapting to change. I'm sure there will be lots more changes but the point is that I feel like the hierarchy knows now what it's looking for in the team they're building.

Some guys are going to fit and some will not. We'll probably see them get guys we never even thought of in the mix eventually. But yeah man, I can feel ya on ADA. I'm not sure what's up with him sometimes. I guess we'll see this season.

  3. What did I miss?

You don't have to buyout two and move 3. The 3 trades - Vesey, Namestnikov, Strome - are all expiring contracts. Shatty buyout. Staal or Smith can be moved fairly easily after this season, with only 1 year left. It will cost an asset, but it's not difficult.

You're just scared of the cap, but NYR has the ability to do basically anything they want right now.

Yeah, I agree Future. The Rangers are in a very good area....and I know I may be a couple of bricks short of a wall thinking this but I just have a gut feeling that Shattenkirk is going to have a rebound year. I've been saying it all summer and I just keep getting the feeling that he's just too damn talented to be as much of a Non Factor as he's been.

If Shatty and Kreider can put up some good performances this season, we can possibly take a poke at the playoffs or at worst, trade them at the deadline for a #1, or to a contender for a shot at Lafreniere in the 2020 draft.

I can also see Staal retiring after his contract is up. His tank is just about empty.

  4. I'm happy for Kravtsov that Kakko is there to absorb the brightest lights and hype (Church of Kakko, anyone? Say what?). He might have been the shiniest object in prospect camp/training camp had the lottery gone differently. Now he can begin his new job in relative peace.

    Church of Kakko???

    I'm in! Sign me up!!

Where the fucking collection plate!!! or the Jager bottle....oh wait he's a Fin.

    Vodka!!!! ....FINLANDIA!!! Yes!! Gimme!!!

  5. Trouba and Subban were both just traded for nothing. More qualityguys are going to be moved this off season under the same circumstances. The cap is pushing teams to trade players they wouldn’t move otherwise. Nobody here knows who the cap casualties will be in the next couple of years. The rangers should not be rushing themselves into these waters. Three years from now the rangers will have their own rfa crisis. Signing panarin for $12m will not cost nothing but money. It will cost the rangers three years from now albeit in draft picks like Toronto with Marleau or with having to lose a player or two they can no longer afford. It is so damn shortsighted to go all in on panarin right now. With Kakko entering the fold with Kravtsov the rangers already have two wings that project into big time players who will need big time money three years from now. Are you really building this around three wings?

I'm starting to see that picture as well, Franny. Kakko, when his ELC contract is up is going to be very expensive. I'm thinking (hoping) Kravtsov and Fox are going to be as well. We're going to need all the room we can muster in order to keep the nucleus of this youthful team in tact. There are so many good prospects that the Rangers have in their system right now, that I just can't see them hanging on to players like Kreider for six more years and paying him 6.5 million.

We see now how Shatty's deal is wearing on them, not to mention Staal's and Hank's. Most of their shit is done in 2 years anyway, so that clears up an ass load of cap space.

I think it's the fact I have never in my 48 years of being a Rangers fan, saw the Rangers actually build their team in this manner...or "rebuild" at all. I have to get used to the fact of having the patience to watch these kids come along, and grow. The whole fucking "WIN NOW!" bullshit is for a time long since vanished.

The way they're putting this together is to hopefully build a powerful, perennial contending franchise for many years to come. The whole "win at all costs now, because it's NY, and we have no patience" bullshit theory isn't working either. I can wait, and I can see now where we're going, and what's more is I like what this team is doing. They FINALLY have what I believe are the right people in place (JD and Gorton). Their hirings are making lots of sense to me, and their strategy looks to be in place to rebuild this with patience and well thought out decisions.

  6. God help the kid if he has a slow start.

After all the shit that's been said and posted about this kid, I can just see him stepping on to MSG ice for the first time in game #1!!! If it was me, you probably couldn't pull a pin out of my ass with a tractor!

    ...but

What if he comes out and goes nuts? Can you imagine him scoring something like 2 goals and 2 assists in his first game???

He may be able to run for Mayor!!! LOL

  7. I really don't like the idea of paying Kreider 6.5 million for 6 more years. I realize there's no other way to sign him without giving him a long term deal, but...

His compete level is about as consistent as the weather pattern around here these days.

I'm most likely in the minority with this, but I can't see spending that kinda money on a guy that's 28 years old and for that long. Kreider is a speed player to me, and players seem to gradually lose their speed as they get older in my opinion. If CK doesn't have his speed, then what does he bring to the table at age 33/34.

I just say fuck it, and trade him at the deadline. This team needs less dead weight, and I think I've seen enough 50% Kreider games to last me a lifetime.

Kakko's going to be here for the next 15 years in my estimation. The Rangers don't have to rush anything. Their system is LOADED with good prospects, that are going to need room on a roster to flourish when/if they get a chance to play. Not to mention next year's draft which may even shape up to be better than this one. I'm not getting too attached to Kreider because I think he'll be better as trade fodder.

I seriously think we'll be better without him after the trade deadline....we should definitely get something good in return for him either as a player/prospect or at next year's draft. I just think this is going to be one of those "We should've never gave him 6 years" kinda deal.

  8. "Oh, I see the city. It's dump. Much worse than Turku"

"No, Kaapo, we're going past that one - see the big buildings over there?"

"Ah, good. What city is dump?"

    "Newark, Kaapo"

"Glad not #1 now. Haha, Jack, you have to live in dump."

    This is absolutely EPIC!!

Holy shit Kappo!! Make yourself at home and get used to it, kid!! You're gonna be here a LONG TIME, brother!
