  1. I have to admit, I laughed my ass off last night watching the Leafs lose this one.  OT losses in Game 7's are downright painful, and I just can't wait to hear from all the "Bissonette's" of the world after yet another 1st round ouster!

Listen...I'm no Bruins fan, and they're most likely going down in 5 against a really tough Florida team, but last night's loss was just lovely to watch.

    Go Leafs Go!!!  LOL

    Hey Ozzy,

sorry to send this thread so late but I happen to run into that miserable bitter cry baby fucking bartender die hard devils fan tonight! Minding my own business and I don’t drink sitting at the bar having my sprite he starts talking shit with another devils fan I happen to know. It started with “remember when the devils won cups, 3 of them?” “Hey Ed I look over say yeah? “ “remember that devils winning cups they both chime in. Trying to goat me into a pissing contest. So I laugh at them, and I give them the yapping symbol with my hand and said “Sean, Rempe kicked your ass, kicked the devils ass, you still crying about it.?” He got steamed and said dirty fucking guy skates behind our guy hits him. I say I’m going to buy you guys a Rempe tee shirt would that make you happy?? They didn’t like when I said the name Rempe. Honest I recognize when these guys are just bitter and mad, but I also recognize that they are scared. They’re afraid the Rangers could go all the way this year and when it and Rempe could be responsible partially responsible for it ….it’s their nightmare and I love it. Sorry to send you this thread Ozzie. I know you’re one of the main guys on this website.. it’s awesome!  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this blueshirt brotherhood stuff and I’ve learned a lot even though I’m 55. I’ve learned a lot about the Rangers go Rangers tomorrow hopefully they take the canes out in five or six

    good night.

    Ed

    You're going to have to come to grips with the a couple of things here, Big Ed;

    1. Devils fans are "special".

    2. They're also not really "fans"...most are bandwagon type....basically they're fucking idiots.  LOL

    3. It's hard to be #3 in the NY market...and that's behind the Islanders...that's a whole 'nother story...but you get where I'm going here  😉

4....and most importantly...you think they're bad now?  Wait 'til we win the Cup this year!!!  Watch their faces then! ...matter of fact, I'd take a picture!

There's also a rule where you cannot touch the puck with your hands upon the drop of the puck.  It's actually a 2 minute penalty for a "Faceoff violation".  I think I saw that once this season.

...Like, this just happened last night!!

Linemates staying motionless is one of the biggest reasons I think guys get tossed out of faceoffs. I also think it's one of the "rules" that gets overlooked the most. We see guys jostling for position all the time on draws.

One question I have, which is sort of related: (I haven't heard this in a while, so maybe I'm making it up, but...) I used to hear commentators talk about intentionally getting kicked out of the draw. Why would someone want to get intentionally kicked from the draw? (Or am I making that shit up?)

I'm taking a stab, Philly...but I think what could be, is that if a team needed a line change badly, and to get a little bit of extra breather, they'd have a guy take the draw and get tossed for a few extra seconds of a rest.

    To get things started…

    1. Who is making the decision to toss guys from the face-off?  Why? I get the need to have your stick on the ice and skates aligned with the lines but what else matters?

    2. Gain the red line before a shoot-in. Seems like the linesman are quite lenient and allow dump-ins short of gaining the territory first.

    3. Round 2 doesn’t start until all of Round 1 decided. Right? (And what happened to the short lived best of 5 series for Round 1 from a number of years ago? Do we like that?)

    4. Could somebody like Bill Fairburn come down the wing in today’s game and score from the dot? Goalies that much better?

    5. Why can't they make goalie gloves smaller?

    6. Why can't the NYR win the cup?

    7. Why is Colton Orr a NYR alumni when he only played for the Rangers 3 seasons but 6 seasons for Toronto?  Del Zotto played 4.5 seasons with NYR and 8.5 seasons with other teams?

    8. Why men pee standing up?  It is a lot more safer to pee sitting down

    Answers:

    1. The linesman dropping the puck makes the call.  The "why" part is a few reasons; think like a "false start" in football, for the most part.  But the visiting team has to put his stick on the ice first, followed by the home team. Both have to come to a stop and wait for the drop. Both must have their skates square and even. All their teammates must be on the correct side of the circle and motionless.

    2. They are lenient and not consistent with that call.  Sometimes they call icing and other times they let it slide...nothing new under the sun with that call.  It's been like that for eons!

    3. Yes...actually Round 2 can't start until the teams clinch their Round 1 series anyway.  Best of 5 went away when the NHL figured out they make more $$$ on more games played.  I remember 2 out of 3, then 3 out of 5, before the last 2 rounds were 4 out of 7.

    4. Probably not anymore, Big Guy.  The days of beating a goalie that can see a puck from over 20 feet out is really a rarity these days.  Back in the day, the goalie pads, and equipment was smaller...as were most of the goalies.  Now you have goalies in there that are 6' 7" and take up 1/2 of the net.  They are "better" in a sense, that the training, knowledge and scouting is much improved from the old days of Gump, Eddie and Rogie.

    5. They can....

    6. They will...

    7. They are...

    8. It is...

  7. He ain't goin' no place....Levy or whoever it was doing the broadcast last night made such a big fucking dramatic story out of this.  The last 7 minutes of the game was a funeral for Christ sake.

All for nothing in my opinion.  The guy's getting a deal done there and he'll retire when he wants to....IN TAMPA.

That's my call and I'm sticking to it!  😃

  8. He's had a great career and there's really no reason for him to go through all that pain for a team that probably needs to rebuild/re-tool.  I could see if they had one more kick at the can, but that team is pretty far from being a Cup contender.

He's got what, one more year left on his contract?

He's won a Cup, and was a really good player pretty much his whole career.  I'm curious to see what he does, but I don't think he has anything left to prove at this point.
