  1. We need to get Kreider as much time with the top PP unit, along with top ES linemates.

He needs a career year....going into trade deadline

Absolutely, Puck!! ...on top of that he needs to stay healthy all season!!! That's the way we get top dollar for this guy, because I think he's gone. I can totally see Kreider in my mind's eye, 3 years from now, and it ain't pretty.

He'd be a future buyout candidate in my opinion; When I see a one dimensional, speed player lose his speed....the rest is history.

    This is just..... Gold!!!

  3. Right now, yea. But I wouldn't sleep on the physical maturation of any of Howden, Lias, Chytil over the offseason. At that age, you can make huge strides, physically. Howden, in particular, doesn't have the offensive upside of Chytil, but if you put him in the middle of, say, Kreider and Buch, he can be effective if he lets the other two feel confident in springing the zone.

    More on topic though;

I like Future's assessment here...I think Howden is going to be a solid NHL player and he does need some time to mature...possibly more than the others. I see Anderson in that category as well. I think I just wanna see more of these guys in a setting where, ok now that we're not "playing for a lottery pick", let's see what we have going forward here.

Even though we've had a HELL of a summer, I still don't really think we're a playoff team...there's simply too many question marks. As these youngsters take shape maybe a few of those questions about talent and whatnot get answered, but I'm not going to be totally miffed if they miss the playoffs.

I simply wanna see progress...and most of all, just give me HOPE that we're going in the right direction with these guys.

I gotta admit one thing though: I'm really going to enjoy seeing Kakko be a Ranger!

  4. I'm hoping they keep Strome so he can lighten the load at 2C. Hopefully Chytil can take over eventually with Anderson and Howden filling the other roles. Hopefully they're just good enough to squeak into the playoffs.

But I won't be mad if they're not.

At least the days of trying to lose are over. I know we only did that for 2 years, but it fucking sucked to watch.

Dude, I am so on board with this whole post, my brother! I'm so freakin' stoked to root for these kids this season. Yeah 31, the last 2 years blew monkey ass and it seemed like we had no direction. Things have swung a wild 360 this summer, and now even though we may not make the playoffs, I'm not so sure that matters as much because hope is back, and there's a light at the end of the tunnel for these kids. We now have a direction, and I'm sure Gorton and JD have a plan.

I'll trust JD to my death, and I believe in Gorton

  5. Agree on the first point. Utterly disagree on the second. Fuck summer. "Go outside," is like telling me "walk into the sun." Same result. Death.

Gimme my 6 string acoustic, a few beers, and some hot babes by the beach during the summer!!!

After that...it's all HOCKEY from October on!!!

well, mostly hockey...and a few babes, of course! ;)

  6. I have no idea what they're gonna do here, but I will say one thing; Whatever it is, I know both of these guys (JD and Gorton) know what they're doing and they have a plan. I trust they will do the best thing for this team....

We've had one hell of an off season so far and today will be just another great day for the Rangers in taking steps toward being a serious contender very soon!

  7. I've been more about trading Kreider since the end of the season. His game drives a guy like me nuts. All that speed, talent and ability, and he uses it only when he feels like it, or so it seems. I still think Kreider's best value right now may be the fact that we could possibly package a bad contract with him for a decent pick in next year's draft.

I have absolutely no interest in paying Kreider long term and 7+ million...forget it!

A speed player, who's most consistent quality is that he's inconsistent? No way! I say give someone else a shot on the wing, and move on from Kreider.

  8. I like him, and if they can sign him to the projected cost it’s a bit of a no brainer really.

If he can play the way he does whilst putting up 25-30 points that’s excellent value.

He needs to work on his defensive game, however.

    I absolutely LOVE this kid!!!!

He's a "must sign", and I think Gorton and JD know it. They'll get this one done for sure. I believe in this management team....They're good and they'll navigate this salary cap shit they inherited.....no worries from me.

  9. Who came up with "The Sullen Russian" ? Was it Ozzy or Dunny? Loved that one.

How would you guys describe the type of player Buch is? I have a hard time thinking about what it is he does particularly well.

    It was Dunny, Brownie!

I got a kick outta that one too!!

This is a good bridge to see what this kid can do, and also if he's gonna be able to make it with the team structure going forward. I just hope his new millions can buy a lot of crying towels for the bench! LOL

  10. They are at this very moment, however in the grander scheme of things? They really aren't.

    We've locked up the #1F and #1D. That's good.

Our expiring contracts next season are expected to be replaced both production and cost-wise largely by ELCs (Kreider might be the exception here).

Our cap positioning is ALL ABOUT 2021-2022 right now; at the worst possible case, that's when the following things all happen:

    Hank off the books

    Shattenkirk off the books

    Smith off the books

    Staal off the books

    Must extend:

    Chytil

    Howden

    Andersson

    Hajek

We're not at risk of losing a player we shouldn't with the notable exception of Buch/ADA, and ADA is debatably in that camp.

Here we go! I think this has it summed up pretty well.
