  1. And not to be misunderstood 100pts production for him to be worth what he’s being paid.
  2. Making $11.6m a year. Only Mcdavid makes more. His presence on the team and the cap % he takes up effects the rest of the roster. He needs to perform on a Mcdavid type pace for him to be worth it. Maybe he will but saying he’s just one player is disingenuous. Yes he’s one guy taking a huge piece of the pie.
  3. 21-22 Cap $85m Panarin 11.6 Zibanejad 5.35 Buch 5.5 Chytil 5 Anderson 3 Howden 3 Kravtsov 1 Kakko 1 Trouba 8 Skeij 5.25 Fox 1 2 goalies 8 Buyouts 2.54 Bonuses 3.5 Total $63.74m. 8 forwards 3 defenseman, 2 goalies. 21.26m remaining for 6 forwards and 4 defenseman. The following year is the big problem with Zibanejad a ufa and kakko Fox Kravtsov all rfas. By that point Zibanejad will be aroond $10m a year and kakko could be more. Kravtsov and fox could both be bridged but if signed long term 6-8m each.
  4. It doesn’t and I agree with his contract and your description of him. I’m just bringing it up because all these guys on elcs don’t have to defined as success or busts at age 22 or younger. Many of them could and probably will fall in between. When they do the rangers may have to decide on players who are still babies. That’s all. Many are posting here the black and white nature of them being either great and it being a good problem or them being bad and not having to worry about paying them because they are a bust. It’s naive as you say. It won’t be so black and white.
  5. Nor am I. I’m only asking because I would hardly call him a success or a bust. Thdxrangrs are still trying to figure out what he is. Yet he got $3.25m a year. I’m not saying it’s bad or a problem. I am questioning why you think that any of the current elcs wouldn’t at least be in the same boat as buchnevich? I mean chytil has another year like the last two and what’s he getting? It’s not $1m and the rangers aren’t cutting bait from him either.
  6. Kravtsov has played what 10 games at center. He’s a child and maybe you’re right maybe he can move positions. Hardly a sure thing or a plan. As far as those other guys bring 50/50 what are the odds of a late rounder and a third round pick in making the nhl, let alone with any impact? I actually gave them much better odds. Dunny gave you a pretty clear picture. You chose not to accept it but we should accept these answers for center? Ok. I actually think dunnys numbers are low and there is less space. Not to mention the following year kakko, Zibanejad, and Kravtsov amount others contracts will all be looming. It’s hard to say they are fucked. It just odd that a team in the rangers position are already feeling the squeeze and have limited their maneuvering ability. For what? Seems like a marketing model not a winning one to me.
  7. Anderson is Already a bust I thought? Chytil looks like a wing at this point. Kravtsov is now being moved to center, good thing he’s already proved his trade at wing. Why are they trading Zibanejad? Only reason I can think of is money when his contract is up. Karlsson and Barron are 50/50 at best if they even play in the nhl let alone be impact centers. So yeah you’re right they have plenty of centers and even more when they move players to center. None of which are even close to proving themselves nhl players other than Zibanejad, who you want to trade.
  8. Seriously. I said sign dzingel as a stop gap for 2-3 years. He was never more than a pro to put in the lineup while the kids developed. But carry on if it makes you feel better.
  9. Well they are right now and barring an old fashioned hockey trade there is little room to upgrade anywhere the next two years. Totally fair that we don’t know what will happen three years from now. Not sure why people don’t think there won’t be more spooner, Namestnikov type contracts handed out though.
  10. I was responding to the thought that somebody would rather be good and against the cap as opposed to being bad and cap strapped. At this point nobody knows if they are either, all we know is that they are cap strapped. If they are bad who cares. If they are good then 3 years from now they are subtracting instead of adding to a contending team. The point has always been the timing was wrong. We can go off on all kinds of tangents but that has always been my biggest problem.
  11. Saying the rangers cap problems are short term and temporary is like saying you can keep your doctor under Obamacare. It’s obviously false. Does anyone really believe the rangers aren’t going to have cap problems. They had 78 points last year were awful and are cap fucked. They have $20m tied up in 2 players for 7 years. That will almost guarantee limiting their cap flexibility over that time
  12. If fast can score 60 pts on their wing I would hope kakko would score 100. Kakko’s value will be determined by his ability to drive play and make those around him better. Needing to ride panarin and Zibanejad is a long way from a franchise altering player. We don’t need him on their wing so he can win a Calder. We need him in the role that best helps his development so we can win a cup. In the end end who gives a crap how many points he scored this year. It’s the process that matters and the finished product. What is he four years from now? That’s what I care about.
  13. I’d be happy if he produces at a rate comparable to the no talent Tkachuk brothers.
  14. Wow. Kakko at 60 pts at 18 years old yet Kravtsov might our perform him. That’s a crazy amount of expectation in teenagers. Maybe it’s possible. I think it’s jyst as likely they score half that.
  15. You don’t need any fancy system to come up with a projection. The people writing the articles try to use these metrics to give their projection merit. That’s all. Rookies and guys that are under22 are not finished products. Some take longer than others to figure it out, some never do. That is the reality to me, so my expectation and my thought on what success looks like has nothing to do with the playoffs.
