Its all about the Panarin effect. IF Panarin gets back to his previous self and rakes in the points all season long, 30/70 for Trochek is a possibility. Thats all. Fair to doubt that outcome, but regardless...some of us just don't like Strome...maybe its his face.

Well find out this season how 'unjust' the strome shade was.

we know what we had in strome...and it wasn't enough. time will tell what we have in Trochek but it seems like there's a good chance its an upgrade.

Half joking / tongue in cheek...but there performance during parts of the playoffs couldve raised some questions imo

Fully on board with just handing over the 2C reigns to chytil...for an entire season. Everyone understands the rangers need to be creative to field a team under the cap over the next few seasons, so you just have to be open to taking a big time chance on someone unproven, in some capacity. If its not on a guy like chytil, then who?

Someones gonna have to teach this guy the various hockey platitudes your supposed to spout off in interviews...

I dont know what it'll take to get miller, but i imagine theres a package going the other way that leaves the rangers in a win now position next year. And who knows what the future holds anyways...may be worth the risk.

Its fair to be disappointed with their progress. But unless and until you replace them with a promising prospect as opposed to an expensive proven commodity, you bite the bullet and hope for the best.

Fine - their very different cases - but the point is if anyone would have suggested JT Miller had top 10 scoring, 100 pt. potential at the time he was traded, theyd've sounded crazy. I don't have the 'evidence' that Chytil/Laf/Kakko will turn into stars, and there's certainly a chance they won't...but if you don't take enough chances on developing talent with a long term view, you end up missing out on a year or more of production from a guy like JT Miller and instead have to pay 11.5 million in free agency to a Panarin.

Yea...Trading away jt miller looks like a retard move now...but half this board wouldve thrown away chytil before the playoffs, and 3-5 years down the road hell be scoring 30+. Book it. Ditto for laf and kakko - half this board had given up on them at different points last year.

Anyhow...I dont understand why you wouldnt try to to utilize 3 scoring lines. Say the kid line picks up where it left off... Keep Mika and Kreids together...find a good enough fit for panarin to go along with that big kick in the ass from Drury...and then role out three lines that can score - spreading out the time evenly. You can even plug in guys like blais on those top 2 lines if you need some grit.

Panarin moves around pretty seamlessly on the pp. And hes basically a kind of hockey savant. Hed have the most success at rw

Glad that drurys expectations for panarin are higher...cause its gonna take 30+ goal / 100 point, showing up big for the playoffs performance from him if we want to contend for a cup.

Panarin would make the most successful transition to RW imo. And we still havent found the right zuccarello/buchnevich replacement on Kreider-Zib RW. Panarin should be able to produce enough to make that work.

Panarin looked really good in game 5 - up tempo, attacking, defending...so its not like hes incapable. Im far from giving up on him, and the next step is just to fit him with the right linemates. Down for Chytil to be given a real shot with him.

Blowing up the lines the way he did made no sense to me. They had a chance to win every game except 4, and were getting some chances. Plus, they somehow found a way to win in the previous 2 series just when they looked dead in the water. They came out totally disjointed and demoralized in period 1 yesterday - and im pretty sure having there lines blown up - the linemates they fought and clawed with the last bunch of weeks- had something to do with that. And the one line you leave in tact is Strome-Panarin who have probably been the biggest disappointment throughout the playoffs? And on top of that to suddenly be all salty when asked about benching kakko etc.? Makes me wonder if some direction came down from up high.

Plug chytil into the 2c and sign/trade/draft a prospect that comes cheap but has middle 6 potential.

Definitely interested to see what drury will do...should have resigned buchnevich. Mightve been able without goodrow, reaves etc.
