Staple Rangers, Chytil Have Begun Preliminary Talks on Contract Extension
Jdog99 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Its nothing to do with trochek...i like him and he could be good for us...but we always knew there were limited dollars to spend on chytil, kakko, miller, laf etc...and we actually had some rock solid evidence of chytils potential in the playoffs.. your going to have to take some risks to build the future of this team and why drury wouldnt have taken that risk on chytil i dont understand. -
Staple Rangers, Chytil Have Begun Preliminary Talks on Contract Extension

At this point were gonna have to overpay for sure...big f'n mistake not betting on him as the 2C and signing Tro. -
You couldnt do any worse with knoblauch behind the bench...and maybe even alot better. Ide be down for that move right now.
-
Gd...how did we miss out on montgomery...may be mistaken but i recall him being an option even before we hired quinn? Team could be firing on all cylinders under him.

So...Gallant saying he was not happy with being outshot and wants to tinker the lines some more? Are you kidding? You could basically have a computor randomly generate the lines at this point...the guy has no vision. Does it occur to him that if one line isn't clicking, maybe they need TIME to figure it out...like as much as half a season if necessary? Bottom line is you need an actual vision for the makeup up of your lines that doesn't get shaken every time your team is not performing.

Alexis Lafreniere and the Rangers Reach a Critical Point
Jdog99 replied to Pete's topic in New York Rangers
As hard as it is for me to believe that a slam dunk #1 pick could be a bust, I will say that Kakko's athleticism/skill stood out alot more even in year 1 -

well if he'll come cheap enough on his next contract, would be happy to give it another 2 seasons after this lots of fans were pretty much at the end of their rope with Chytil and then the promise started to materialize. never mind that he hasn't come close to meeting 1OA expectations, there could still be a very good player to develop -
Would be interesting to see him in that brendan smith 4th line role so we can consider have an extra D on the bench

GDT [RS #32] Rangers @ Philadelphia Flyers — Do Ya Get That, Tortsie?
Jdog99 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
they should try key in that 4th line Brendan Smith role sometime -
Well...if you asked me after last seasons playoffs, I would've said Chytill should be given the a shot a the #2C rather than signing a free agent. As this point, you have to prioritize him over Laf, Kakk...Miller too if he doesn't take a big step by end of season. Then you may have 3 really good centerman you can plug in 'average' pieces around.

Total speculation from a relatively casual fan with not a single connection to an insider...but i think if Trotz was interested Drury would've already made the move (at least post the Chicago game). He doesn't strike me as gun shy.

Athanasiou Drags Trouba: 'He's an $8 million man with 0 goals,'
Jdog99 replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Ive loved troubas hits in the past - important to keep the opposition honest. but this one did sorta come off as a hit for hittings sake - rather than the most ideal defensive hockey play...and he couldve hurt the guy pretty bad. -
Im all in agreement that the young ones have not been developed properly... I mean, what are the chances the rangers just happened to miss on two consensus 'cant miss' draft picks in a row?
-
Surely philly is tired of torts by now...gallant for torts? Not to win...just to punish the players

GDT [RS #26] Rangers vs Chicago Blackhawks — End the Pain
Jdog99 replied to Drew a Penalty's topic in New York Rangers
would be cool if Drury canned Gallant mid game and came down to the bench to coach himself at least it would make a statement -
At least hell come cheap like kakko

I think playing weak is more about team culture and style than individual players. So GG has got to be the first to go.

Just sayin...gotta have a back up plan in case...who would it be?

How bout if Trotz says no...whose the next best option?
