[RS] (#59) Rangers @ Columbus Blue Jackets — Arrive; Raise Hell; Leave With Jennyr

Looks like we emptied the tank in Philly.  We seemed like we were 2 steps behind all game.  That made for some poor play and even worse decisions.  Quick kept us in this as long as he could, but we just looked spent in all aspects of the game tonight.

Here are the Top 15 nominees for tonight's “Ozzy Quote of the GDT”:

It’s funny that something as tall as Edstrom and Rempe make something as small as my Chubb stand so high

This game has the same feeling as a post-Viagra letdown.

Hmmmmm. In before Elvis comes back from the dead and scores a goal lol

Well, it was going to end sometime...May as well be to these pukes.  Seriously though, I'm gonna give them a pass on this one because they looked shot from the beginning of the 2nd period.

Good to see the 4th line still had it, and chipped in again.  That was pretty much the only positive we can take outta this one.

The winning quote for tonight’s GDT goes to @siddious Pete who probably speaks for a lot of us.  Edstrom still looks great along the boards and got a nice tally tonight.  Great also to see Rempe hit the scoresheet again too.

We'll get these scum bags on Wednesday!  ...and I'll be there to make sure!

Yes, Rempe lost a fight but this bullshit has got to stop referee should’ve come in and told that fucking goon you don’t stop it I’m giving you a game is conduct commissioner has to come in and stop this shit. Rimpy didn’t do anything wrong he’s a rookie and that’s why that fucking goon on Columbus did it if we had Reeves do you think that fucking goon would’ve done that to Reeves absolutely not the bullshit is got to stop.

At what point was the referee supposed to step in and tell the goon to stop it? (Pregame when the referees aren't even on the ice.) Stop what by the way? Stretching pregame right at the red line and agreeing with player x that's comes up to said red line and asks him if he wants to go and Rempe replies heck yeah with a smile on his face and then player x skates off. Then they both willingly go the first chance they get.

In the post game with Philly he described that exact scenario when Deslarius (sp) asked him and he replied yes of course I want to go.

Now when is the commissioner supposed to step in pregame, in the locker rooms to put and end to it? I don't even understand how any of this will work. Rempe isn't getting jumped he's been the ultimate willing opponent every time. I think Matt Martin would of been fine not fighting him, instead he gave him a courtesy bout, pretty classy on his part. At this stage in his career I'm sure he would of been fine not scrapping there.

It's how this works Reaves was the same when he was younger trolling the red line in warmups asking guys to go (before his dinosaur years). There's nothing new going on here other that Rempe got smoked yesterday in a bout he was more than willing to take on. He's going to need to learn how to play defense in these scraps and not with his face, his wide open style is great until a guy with experience lands some bombs based on that experience.

I like the kid a lot but calling for referees and the commissioner to step in and protect him while he's more than willing is comical. If he's not fed some serious shots yesterday and stunned and taken off the ice initially the sales of Rempe fight club shirts would of had a banner day. Instead he got a heavy dose of reality that he's not going to steamroll any and all comers. And many will be coming after him some he'll win, some he'll lose.

I feel like the Blue Jackets always play us extremely tough, tougher than they do against most teams. I'll chalk up last night to fatigue and that, but Columbus ran us pretty ragged offensively. One of the worst teams in the league, and already lost to them twice. One win they barely eked out when Laf scored in the final seconds and they won in a shootout. I don't want to say Wednesday is a must win per se, but they really need to come out and take it to them.

Whole different approach on Wednesday.

I'm going to the game on Wednesday, and the first thing I'm going to watch for is Laviolette's adjustments.  This is where I think this year's team differs from the last 2 seasons.  I think there's going to be a much different approach to the game.  I also expect it to be a lot more disciplined, with a metric ass load more back pressure on their back checking.

There was absolutely ZERO last night.

Our defense last night was looser than Aunt Tilly's twat!  Fucking defense caving in and getting punked...That shit stops Wednesday.

Show us the way it's done Lavvy!

That might have been the worst game ever for the Miller/Trouba pairing, which is an accomplishment. Even if they were decent, they may have won. I'm loving this fourth line, though. They haven't had one looking this good in a few years when Rooney was putting up double digit goals.

Hope so Ozzy. Lavy and even Vally said pregame the key to shutting the BJ's down was off the rush, that's how they score, they're really good off the rush the issue with them is they don't get many of them, well until last night. I think the game plan was there the execution was non-existant on our part. We looked like clowns on defense last night especially Trouba and Miller but they were just the worst of a bad group.

Hoping for a much better effort Wednesday

Let's also be honest brother even aunt Tilly's loose twat needs some loving too. 🍆

Agreed, not particularly worried. The record would've been nice, but whatever.

Still gotta work on getting those shots against down though.

Yes, the main concern right now. Igor has been awesome, but consistently giving up 40 shots per game isn't the best recipe. At least it may have helped Igot get into a grrove. lol

6pm start the day after a 3pm road game. that was a scheduled loss. no worries about it. we're fine

Yeah, they were kind of due. Plus, it was a pretty insane and energy draining week with the outdoor game and playing some tough competition afterwards.

Yeah you’re right dude. I had to rethink after what you said. I do believe the referees are there for the pre game warm up and throughout the game. Also, I didn’t know until a couple days later that Rempe started the damm thing either asking Oliver to start with him or he was going to fight! Well Rempe got what he deserved.
anyway thank you for pointing those things out you said earlier. Meant to reply but very busy.
tough game tonight against Toronto at least they got the point.
