Am I tripping balls but did the Panthers change their camera angle? I feel like there and in Calgary are always closest to the ice. Now it seems normal. Again, means nothing. Just want to know if I’m hallucinating or not.

Kelly Sutherland strikes again in Philadelphia. Another brutal call as he lost the puck in the sky.

I thought we'd seen the worst of him, but this one takes that cake.  Credit Kelly Sutherland for personally eliminating the Flyers.

...Lost the puck in the air and blew the whistle!!!  LOL  (....puck goes in the net....NO GOAL!)

Watch this shit:

Way to go Kelly!

The NHL will certainly get him to ref all our games for that one!!

How does Detroit end with more wins and Washington gets in?

I just saw it is regulation wins as a tie breaker. What a dumb tie breaker. In a league where they give loser points in OT, it should strictly be wins. This just seems inconsistent.

I've probably said it a zillion times, but I hope they get rid of fucking regular season OT and go back to the original setup with ties being one point.  That whole "participation trophy" bullshit is wearing on me.

I'm not a fan of Kelly Sutherland, however, that was by the book call. A referee is supposed to blow the whistle if they lose sight of the puck. Lindgren is acting like he had it trapped. I don't know what else the ref is supposed to do there, if they can't see the puck.

Only in the NHL can you lose more games than you win and make the playoffs. lol The loser point can really make a lot of teams look better than they really are.

Don't sub 500 teams make the playoffs in football fairly regularly?

I don't know about fairly regularly, but it can happen. It just happens more in the NHL because you can get rewarded for losing, and it makes a handful of teams more competitive and 'in the race' than really should be.

They fucking complicate everything.

Two points for a win, one each for a tie, go home after 5 minutes of four on four and call it good.

I actually saw the puck pop up in the air on TV.  Granted Kelly is on the ice at a different angle, but that's just a terrible call.  The "dead puck" if it hits a player rule???  Sometimes I think they make this shit up as they go along.

I feel bad for Torts, I guess.  That's a shitty way to blow a spot in the playoffs.  I mean, Detroit won, and they would've been eliminated anyway.  But it just seems to always be Kelly Sutherland, doesn't it??

Boston is still a really good team, though, but yeah, they had a ton of loser points this year.

I don't consider Boston in that upper tier of teams in the East along with NYR/CAR/FLA. It's only all the loser points that puts them there. To me they're clearly more of a 2nd tier team alongside TOR/TBL. Which is why I think the Leafs should legitimately have a decent shot of eliminating them, despite all their first round choke jobs.

I mean Boston is definitely a step or two down from what they were last season. They are still really good, though. I'd put those three teams mentioned above them too, but they are legit contenders even if there are more chinks in the armor this year than that ultimate season they had prior. This is definitely Toronto's best chance at beating them, though.

It's still wild to me that if the Flyers knew of Detroit's late game heroics and that they were already eliminated, they likely wouldn't have bothered with pulling the goalie and if they went on to beat Washington in OT/SO, we'd be facing Detroit this weekend. Strange turn of events, and it came down to the slimmest of margins. Sucks for the Wings fans but that's how she goes sometimes.
