Second goal right before half changed the match for the second half. Brief jubilation from USA goal. Netherlands quick response to make 3-1. Possession statistics (flashed on telecast in middle of second half) had US about 50%, Netherlands about 35%, contested about 15%. Will be interested in final match report. Netherlands was clinical in finish. Pass to unmarked attacker, finish. USA defensive letdowns were punished. USA did not finish enough of the opportunities they created. Young team. We showed we can play with them, but also have a lot of growing to do. We have four years to find a replacement for Ream (CCV ain’t it), and a more prolific striking option over Sargent and Haji Wright. Ferreira is young and shows promise. Weah and Pulisic will continue to develop, and our midfield is solid with good depth. A good showing for a nation on the up in the world football scene. It’s another to flat out miss assignments in your own third. Also, Pulisic. You have to finish that. You just have to. No excuse there at all.
