Speaking of 39 plus year old Islander D-Men, while watching Andy Greene get beat to the outside on the tying goal tonight, I was reminded that this disciplined "built for the playoffs" power has some real weaknesses. I’d say “pinch me” but it wasn’t that long ago where we owned them both in head to head and just general standings/playoff success. This is less of a dream and more of an aging reality of futility. These last few years though seemed so weirdly flipped where it felt like the inevitable was happening without any control of it. Now it really looks like order is restored but the only difference is that the Islanders aren’t built for a long rolling window. This was their year. I believe they are the 2nd oldest team in the league while we are one of the youngest and getting results. And brand new arena? Chefs kiss!
