It's funny label kid's days as a day the whole family can enjoy, except it's the complete opposite of that. Yeah, MSG is just not very fan friendly anymore between prices, atmosphere and services. I just can't see wanting to go at all now. The Islanders' new arena looks awesome and all of the games are sold out already.

Old rinks are always better for atmosphere. Character is important. That's true at all levels, in all sports.

However, the marketing people think it's more important to be able to order sushi, or 24 oz's of Prime Rib to your seat. Character is out of style, consumerism is the boss.

I agree. And facelift or not, we have the oldest rink in the league. But instead of harping on some of that, the Garden wants to do just what you said: make you feel like a VIP for price.

The whole arena since the renovation has been a dud. It was loud in 2014 and 2015 but all I remember thinking was how loud that place would have been for those runs pre-renovation. Back then, it could will a team to a win.

Remember when Boudreau said it wasn’t loud and we clapped back with the Can You Hear Us chant? Imagine saying it now (while true), and the crowd wouldn’t do a damn thing about it?

Kid's Day is a fail! (I have kids, now grown, so don't shoot me.) We began feeling that Kid's Day games had "0" atmosphere and were even worse than a regular game. Not that it's too many kids, it's just too many non-serious fans IMO. "Hey, let's take the kids to the city and do something..."

MSG Corporate re-do was the icing on the cake that had been baking for years. Ticket prices were rising faster than a Viagra enhancement for crying out loud. And don't forget that mf'er Harry M. Stevens with his shitty food, service and crazy, crazy prices. (Glad they finally bounced him or he died or both!) We've benefitted from invites to lux box or 'on-the-glass' seats ($900ea) and the cool Delta Club area below the Garden but if you're not writing that off, who can afford it? And why am I the only one jumping around screaming like a nut? Add $50 parking on 33rd and the fact that Kreider turns and runs when he sees fans waiting post-game for autographs...you almost don't want to go.

BUT...go we will! Like moths to a flame, we will endure all manner of insults and costs to see our Boys in Blue. When the beer buzz kicks in and the lights go down, "Welcome to the world's most famous arena"...gets me everytime.

Older rinks the fans seem like they are sitting right on top of the ice too, not so much anymore. The one major thing the Garden got wrong was not having the fans sitting up against the glass around the entire rink.

I mean, sure, but the passion you see on display every night in the Coliseum is there because it doesn't cost a billion dollars to get a ticket. Average fans — loud, boisterous, die-hards — can actually get into the building. They're the ones chanting. They're the ones roaring after every hit/fight/shot.

I don't want to feel like a VIP getting catered to. I want to get rip-roaring drunk and lose my voice ghost chanting the opposition goalie all night.

Yup. Fenway Park is the best stadium in baseball for that reason.

Many fans, like myself, just look at it like why pay these absurd prices to go to MSG? I’d much rather do a little trip and go see them somewhere. Lots of cool arenas out there with good energy. Nashville, for example.

The Garden used to be a great place to go to. Had a very unique set up with the walk way inside and outside the concourse. Used to have life, energy, etc. But again, now it’s like a morgue. And it’s really sad.

They have literally, what? Like 10 sections of the Blue Seats? It’s horseshit. Got rid of all of those, got rid of the 300s all together. I mean, seats in the 200s are like $70-something on a good night.

The days of decently priced tickets in that building are gone. They don’t care about the average fan at all. They care about the bottom line. Which is sickening, because they make enough money off corporate seats downstairs as it is.

I'm dreading what the cost is going to be to take my family (four) to a game a few years from now. Even some shitty November match-up against the like Sens is probably going to be hundreds upon hundreds.

is why the stock holders love dolan... regardless that the garden never seems to ice a champ.

I could never imagine a world where I’d give up my tickets, but I had to. It got to be way too much. My family still has a bunch, and when the price drops I’m sure I’ll be the sucker that goes right back in. As of now, my cousins still have theirs so when I do wanna go, I’m able to go. But it is nothing like it used to be. Back in the day, everyone knew everyone, like any other arena or stadium. You had your regulars, and the regulars knew who all the regulars were. Now? All of those people, true diehards (myself included) that NEVER missed games are in that same boat where it’s like what SlobberKnocker said: I will go to a bar and have a few cheap drinks or watch at home. Simply can’t afford to be dropping hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for 41 home games every year. It’s unfair.

Until about 2017/18 they had some group sales specials where you got some decent "green seats" along with a food voucher for around $65/80 for a week night game vs. non division opponent for groups of 15 to 25 . They don't offer it any more. I understand they want to max out ticket revenue, but something like that was a good deal. And you want real fans to be able to go to some games. It's almost more reasonable to go to Vegas or some other road game than to go to M$G.

Phil, I remember sitting up in the Blues in section 411 when the face value of the ticket was $11, back in 1975 (I was 8 years old). In sections 414 and 415 behind the net, on the 8th Avenue side it was 8$!!!! Those 2 sections were "Party Central". I wasn't allowed to wander over there between periods!!!

....but something kept pulling me over there!!!! Those people were the fucking best though!!!

fun times. got my job on 42/park in 86. was 20. came home told my parents i was taking a semester off college and bought ranger season tix with my colleague. had them for a few years. (i did go back to school and grad :)

sat in 423 which is gone now. paid like 20 bucks? maybe a few schekels less. the pot smoke would drift out of the stair corridors between periods. not like i was smelling it but helping to make it. use to take 6 tall boys in my briefcase that i bought at that deli on 33/7th. never got checked. had a buddy scott in 411, nice seat.

had 15 guys behind me from brooklyn. one guy wore a different qb jersey every game. shows up with an orange elway 7 one nite and the whole garden is yelling ELWAY... some drunk guy went over to challenge him... big mistake as his bensonhurst friends beat the hell out of the guy before security got there.

the best though was carol alt marching through the promenade with her black mini skirt. the roof blew off the place. she used to sit behind the rangers goal down low to watch gresh. some nights she would come up and hang in the blues. god we loved her.

fun times.

Caufield, 15th OA in the 2019 draft, scoring massive goals...while we talk about how Kakko's CF%rel improved from a shit rookie season. Fuck off.

LOL! Pain. I still think Kakko will be good, but I hear you on that. Caufield's performance has been extraordinary in the playoffs.

The game tonight is going to make me shit bricks, almost like watching a Rangers postseason game. I really don't want the Islanders to win, so I'll be nervous about that, but deep down I kind of think they're going to pull this off on the road.
