How can the Islanders sign any FA, they have less than $10 million in cap space and still have to sign Barzal, Toews, and a couple other players

The same way, I guess, the Rangers can magically afford Haula, Martin, Bogosian and Kulikov. These types of predictions rarely account for math.

IF this is how it shakes out up front next season it's a thumbs down from me. Mix in some new parts as we are discussing here.

Take out Fast, move Gauthier up to that third line, sign Simmonds. No way he asks for more than 2 mill at 2 years. He's not what he once was, but is definitely serviceable as a 4th liner.

This lower line help that the Rangers need to bring in need to be cheap and on "prove it" or "this is where I'm at in my career" type of contracts.

I want no part of paying big money or term for Martin or Maroon. Especially Martin. The Rangers bringing in past nemesis' never works.

If they can't get any ridgid type of player or defensive specialists, they need to stock the roster with young players who were just not tendered, like Jeremy Bracco. No more McKeggs no more Haleys. Either get falling star who can contribute in a smaller/different role, or bring in reclamation projects.

Lets re-hash this for a hot minute....Now with the NHL coming back for 56 games, and all going to be division games, it'll probably revert back to some nastiness between the divisional teams. 8 games vs. Isles, Devils, Flyers, Pens, Caps, Bruins can bring back some old school hockey. Would it now be wise to see if the Rangers can bring in Martin on a 1 year deal? Rangers will probably need to get meatier so they don't get pushed around.

With all those back-back games against bitter rivals, I was looking for that Chara thread. 1 year, if cheap enough, sure.

Not sure he goes for it with the Rangers, of all teams.
