I'm going to generalize here but Americans that play hockey are almost too Patrician. My view of US hockey is a very sanitized version of Canadian brand played by upper class youth almost exclusively. It's almost easy to tell an American player from a Canadian, or at least it was, Canadian hockey is fast approaching that same sanitization.
