Let's face it, our Dmen have added absolutely zip on offense this year. It is the coaches fault, that includes Ruff. It is possible that the team is getting desperate and actively talked about getting 5 men in on offense, every rush.

Gotta think Mac, Skjei, Smith and DeAngelo are being aggresive tonight for a reason. I also think Mac decided he is not just gonna be a stretch passer and defender tonight and the message was passed along to the group. Fuck AV, our attack needs some diversity. Carry the puck, shoot the puck, change it up, adjust, get aggresive.

This seems true. If we play with desperation so be it. We certainly should abandon the BS play that hasn?t been winning us games.

Whatever it takes boys. Stop listening to the coach? If that?s it then (like the Apple ad sings,) ?Do ya? do ya? thing, do ya own thing!?

Ha ha. Well I'm not saying Mac won't respect the defensive structure coach preaches. But, taking some liberties carrying the puck and being more aggresive on O is something he's earned.

Gotta take the space given and sometimes take matters into your own hands. This is what made Messier great.

Rangers sucked me in again and making me stay up late.

Ha, it's hockey season mutha. I took a power nap and am too fired up. looks like its just you and me. Phil finally fell asleep. Dunny is watching the Pack. 31 is pissed we are winning. Sorry bro, just can't root to lose yet. Not my DNA

It's not like the guy has no talents. He skates fine, has decent size, occasionally will throw a check, is composed and has a good attitude. So why should he be shipped out?

Well his defensive aptitude seems lacking. He is not quite skilled enough. He doesn't get aggresive and compete to win every battle, he's too comnplacent. He does not expect to win battles, does not think he can outplay skilled guys. He struggles to move the puck on his backhand. He does not receive the pass well in the Ozone on his off side. He did not grow tough with this group of Rangers and I don't think he's learned how to expect to win.

I may be wrong, maybe I'm being too harsh. But did you ever play with one of those guys who seemed happy to just be participating and being one of the guys? Someone who isn't thinking about how he is going to do whatever it takes next shift, grab that first opportunity and POUNCE. It is why we rarely see Holden throw a check even though he has the ability to effectively take attackers out of the play.

Watch enough games of other teams, the 3rd pair D guys uniformly suck. Some team hide/scheme around that, and they also don't put such a guy on their top pair minutes wise.
