BrooksBurner
Othmann with another assist the other night. 3 points in first 2 games, but all have been on the PP where he’d be mostly blocked up here. Let him cook and refine that craft. 2
Drew a Penalty
I haven't tuned in since the season opener, so I can't comment on his game, but it's been a slow start for Othmann. After coming out hot, he's at 2-7-9 in 15 games. 7 of his 9 points are on the PP and only 4 of his points are primary. Othmann leads Hartford with 48 shots on goal, though, and is shooting just 4.2% so it could be that he just hasn't found his shot yet. Hopefully, he starts to assert himself a bit more in the coming weeks.

Drew a Penalty
Quote "Obviously, as a goal-scorer and a guy who’s scored a lot of goals in the past, it gets frustrating at times," he said. "But the positive way of looking at it is, I’m still getting my looks. I think I have four or five shots every game. I might have the worst shooting percentage in the league right now, but you’ve got to look at it like it’s going to turn around at some point soon. So, I’m not too concerned." Leaning on vets Despite the scoring drought, Othmann has managed to contribute seven assists, including one in each of the last two games. The organization shares his confidence that the goals will come − "He can shoot the puck," Smith said − with much of the early focus on the other side of the ice. Othmann's minus-five rating is the worst on the team, with defense an area he'll have to tighten up in order to earn an NHL call-up. Figuring out how to defend effectively at the higher levels will take time, which is why he's in the AHL to begin with. But Smith has been encouraged by his commitment, saying, "He’s shown that he’s more than willing to learn the defensive side of the game." Quote Othmann credited Nash, Belzile and Wolf Pack captain Jonny Brodzinski for offering guidance, pointing to a particularly strong bond with Nash. "He’s played over 1,000 pro games now and he has a mindset for the game," he said. "He’s been doing it for a long time now and I have a lot of respect for him. He’s kind of taken me under his wing over the last month or so. He’s an outstanding guy who’s been an outstanding mentor and leader for me." That advice includes specific game situations, but extends to "preparation, cool downs, working out (and) how to manage your body," according to Othmann. It even includes occasional cooking tips, although his go-to source for that remains his mother, Lisa. It's all made for an instructive start to his pro career, with the main message being to keep a positive outlook and trust the development process. "You can’t go from mountain to mountain without going through a valley," Othmann said. "So, going through a little bit of a dry spell here is good for my career. It’s good for the mind, I think. There can be some ups and downs for the mind, but it’s good that I’m handling it now, with all the older guys in the locker room helping me out along the way." Drew a Penalty
Pack won 7-3 tonight. Big games from the kids. Sykora with 2G + 2A, Korczak with 1G 2A, Othmann with 1G 1A. Hopefully, he starts to assert himself a bit more in the coming weeks. Since I made this post he's played 4 games and has 4 goals, 2 assists, and 19 shots in that span. He scored a really nice goal on the PP tonight where he stepped into the slot and roofed it. You can tell that he's starting to get a feel for his shot. Sykora is heating up too. He has 9 points in his last 10 games. He's the youngest player in the AHL so it's awesome to see him thriving. He was playing top PK tonight and 2nd PP unit. He always lives up to his billing as an absolute pain in the ass. He's gonna be such a fan favorite with how he's been getting the Hartford crowd going. I also wonder if this is a breakout game for Korczak. He looks pretty tenacious and has a good stick. It would be nice to have a center prospect show some talent. I'm not expecting too much from him, but it'd be nice after he struggled to stick last year and went back to junior. 2

He's more annoying because he's always in the play and less because he's purposefully trying to agitate. Maybe that'll come as he gets more comfortable. He looks more like a defensive specialist who could also be a Lady Byng contender — he doesn't take penalties.

Sykora, Berard, and Henriksson are all better, and Korczak might be getting there too. Sykora is the biggest of the group at 5'11" 192 lbs while Trivigno is the smallest at 5'7" 167 lbs. Drew a Penalty
Hartford wins 5-4 in OT with two goals from Othmann. He had 8 shots tonight. Henriksson had a really nice tip and Berard had a snipe after his first shot attempt was blocked. Pack have won 6 in a row.
