Monday it was Derby day against our biggest rivals. It's the biggest rivalry in the country without a doubt, always sold out and the atmosphere is crazy.

My team is Lillestrøm (Yellow). I was at the game and it was the best game I've ever been to. Enjoy!

So yesterday was derby day again. Probably crazier than ever.

First we need to go back to 2019. After almost a decade fighting of relegation, we (Lillestrøm) got relegated for the first time in over 40 years. The club had financial problems and things were not looking good. We got a new coaching staff lead by Geir Bakke and got promoted straight back up the following season. The first two years back in the top division things went better than anyone could've dreamt of with back-to-back top 4 finishes and a Cup Final.

Vålerengas ultimate ydmykelse av Lillestrøm

Here you have Geir Bakke in front of the Lillestrøm supporters after the first derby we won 3-4 earlier this year. We were playing good footall and the atmosphere around the club was great, meanwhile our bitter rivals were struggling around the bottom of the table.

Just a couple months after this this picture was taken he decided (convinced by the rich owner of Vålerenga) to switch clubs from Lillestrøm to Vålerenga, mid season! There's one thing you don't do in norwegian football - and that's going from LSK to VIF or vice versa. It's like going from Liverpool to Everton, Real to Barca etc. You just don't do it.

So the message from the home fans yesterday was clear:

And most importantly - The good guys won 2-0. If you want to watch the highlights including Tifo's, pyro's, some fighting and celebrations, you can watch it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAtpsdFPqY0

There was a popular Youtube Vlogger that was at the game. She's an English woman travelling around Europe to watch the biggest football rivalries in different countries. She's made a 10 minutes vlog that captures the atmosphere and game in a really good way. You can watch it here:

She was back for part 2!

Arsenal 6-0 over Lens to clinch top of group and spot in last 16 in Champions League.   Only about a third of the Premier season played with tight cluster at top.

1. Arsenal-30 pts

2. Man City-29 pts

3. Liverpool-28 pts

4. Aston Villa-28 pts

5. Spurs - 26 pts

That's such a monster win for Arsenal for more reasons than just the 6-0 and the top of the group.

First, it means we fucking avoid Bayern Munich for once. But it's also no Barca, no Real Madrid - only really one or two draws that Arsenal wouldn't be favored in for the round of sixteen.

Second, they can bench the starters against PSV. Lets the guys get a full week between Villa and Brighton, and another full week between Brighton and Liverpool.

Third, sure, weak group, but when was the last time Arsenal won a CL group?

Yeah, it's amazing how many times Arsenal and Bayern Munich have faced off in CL.  It's refreshing to watch Arsenal play with grit, confidence, and purpose.  It wasn't too long ago that when Arsenal was heading into a match against Man City or other top squad in PL match and I was just hoping we weren't going to lose 5-1.   Arteta seems to be the right manager for this squad - belief is such a necessary component in success.
