That and they had to expend a lot of energy to just get in. -

The three stars of the game was the entire fourth line. How often does that happen? Great stuff. -

Capitals looked over matched. Crush these fucks in five. Fourth line absolutely brought it tonight. You love to see it for the playoffs. -
Playoffs 2023-24 ECQF: Hurricanes vs. Islanders

I'll be surprised if this goes more than six games. Carolina has this. I'll give the Islanders a game and say Hurricanes in five. -
Playoffs Rangers-Capitals Round One — General Series Thread

Then it'll basically be McDonagh doing all of our games. -
It's probably going to be at least five years or so before they get a new team. I'm glad they'll get one eventually, but I'd still be really pissed off. The Coyotes were finally starting to show some life with some good young players. They are an up and coming team, and they basically leave the city in the 11th hour. It'll be great for them to have a brand new facility in Phoenix, but then they basically have to start all over again as a franchise.
-
Actually, I found that out later after posting that. lol I didn't know, so that was interesting. So, maybe if/when Phoenix gets an arena deal a few years now, they could bring the Coyotes back as a 'new' expansion team and the Utah team would then have its own history. Kind of like the NFL when the Cleveland Browns were brought back several years after they moved and became the Ravens.

Some major butterfly effect shit going on with this. lol -
I think they can. Baltimore is loaded and will give this team a run for its money for the division. That or the wild card is absolutely feasible, especially if the pitching can round out into form.

With Gleyber, he has a lot of skill and ability, but his baseball IQ just isn't there, and he gets down on himself for everything. He's just mentally soft. I don't see them bringing him back anyway, because re-signing Soto needs to be a priority. DJ will be back soon enough and we still have Dominguez as well. I think their system now is the best it has been in a very long time. Lots of reasons to be excited otherwise.

A guy with left-handed power was needed at Yankee Stadium. Who knew? lol One of my main critiques about this team the last few years was that they basically had no left-handed power hitters, and were far too right-handed down the lineup. Soto is a franchise player, generational type of talent who really needs to be retained at all costs. Getting Verdugo was a nice move as well. A solid lefty hitter who works counts and draws a lot of walks. This current lineup feels more like the old school Yankees lineups where they have patience and work at-bats. So far my big disappointments are Torres being absolutely terrible in all facets and the infield defense being pretty terrible.

Lafrenière Re-Re-Reset: 2023–24 Edition

If I recall, wasn't Laf one of the more vocal Rangers when it came to speaking with Drury about not liking Gallant? -

Yeah, Laf, as a first overall pick, came into a situation that most first overalls don't come in to, a team ready to contend. His growth was stunted a bit because of that. This year? Absolutely tremendous strides. The fact he did what he did without really much PP time is pretty incredible. I don't see how Lav doesn't re-evaluate that for next season. Get him some time on the top unit and see what he does. -
Agreed. I feel like the last four or five drafts have been quite good. They were also fortunate to end up with a first overall pick in a year where, normally, they really wouldn't be a lottery team. But, it was something that worked out great for the Rangers. I think they have drafted a good combination of possible future stars as well as good bottom six guys and depth pieces. At the very least, I think they will be more than competitive further down the road, even when Panarin and Mika aren't here, or in the twilight of their careers.

It wasn't a must-win or anything, but if you're going to lose two out of three, that's the way to do it. lol They definitely needed that. I'm still concerned about the rotation and rather piecemeal bullpen. Hopefully Cole and Kahnle come back sooner than later because they are very much needed. Stanton playing better is going to be huge for this team. I really hope it keeps up and he remains healthy.
-
I think they have been. Obviously not everyone will work out, but I still like who they have been picking. I think Drury has done a nice job so far of keeping the current team good, while re-stocking the farm and ensuring (hopefully) a successful future. We could be seeing one of the best eras in Rangers hockey.

The finale was one of the best finales of anything I've seen in recent memory. Incredible, and an awesome set up for season two. Another season hasn't been officially confirmed, but there's already rumblings about it. I mean, it's going to happen. lol The show has been a rousing success for Amazon. You don't really need to have played the games, or have any context at all to enjoy it. Yeah, you might miss some small references, but it's really not a big deal. Just a well done show, in general.
