Yeah for the first month or so into the season Kakko looked like an 18 year old playing in the NHL for the first time. Adjustments have been made and his skill set is so good, he's going to get acclimated sooner rather than later. Now he's been scoring and he's got some swagger and confidence in his game. Everything is falling into place for him.
He hasn't been phenomenal, but I'm willing to give him some more time. I still like the acquisition of Trouba, he's just making a ridiculous amount of money. Some thought Panarin was being overpaid. LOL No.
No doubt. I'm not putting him in the HOF, just saying we haven't seen a Rangers defenseman with this much offensive ability and instinct since the Leetch days. Even without the puck he just knows what to do.
Yeah, I mean I like Lindgren and it's nice to have him up here, but scratching Staal for that seemed kind of bush to me. Again, it's merely a novelty thing.
The concussion obviously hurt him big time, let's also not forget that eye injury he sustained also. An injury in which he was lucky he came away with his eye, or else it was career over.
As far as novelty goes, it would have been nice to have seen Staal out there taking the faceoff with Girardi instead of Kreider. I know Kreider has been here a long time too, but it just would have been more appropriate for Marc to have done it.
I would rather have it that way. I just wasn't sure what Huska's situation was, if he qualified for it or whatever. I don't remember all the intricacies of how the Expansion Draft works regarding who qualifies as needing to be protected.
Could Lindgren wind up being a Michael Sauer type defenseman (but better), minus the concussion problems? (Hopefully). The few times I've seen him he just looks very steady, nothing too fancy to his game.
With Shesterkin down in the AHL, I think he comes up next year to do split-ish duties with Hank. Georgiev is a guy who could wind up being an Expansion Draft casualty.
