  1. I think with another very high pick likely, now may be as good a time as any to make a run at Eichel. I think it's time for him to leave Buffalo, and it's time for the Rangers to acquire some more offensive talent. They are pretty much set for the future on defense (maybe not so much an offensive defenseman). They need more weapons.
  2. What Dunny and Karan said. That 2005-2006 Rangers team should hold a special place in our hearts. That was the team got the Rangers 'back' after seven long, dreadful years. Actually, eight if you include the year there wasn't a season. But, yeah, there was definitely some redemption there for him, plus some redemption for the Rangers who wanted to be a competitive team again. I felt it was the perfect storm. Watching him break Graves' and Ratelle's season record was magical. That whole line with Straka and Nylander, Lundqvist cementing his spot, it was just a really fun time. Even a first round exit by the Devils didn't dampen my spirit. I'm still really bummed he left after the 2008 season. I thought he should've been a Ranger until he retired, or for another few years, at least.
  3. Not to single you out, but this specific line has been used as a complaint even when the PP has been good so it's hard to take it seriously as an accurate assessment. There were times this PP was top 10 last year and this was still a common complaint.

That's fair, I guess. I mean, the PP was quite good last year, but they just don't seem as aggressive as they were last year. But, maybe it's just me. Plus, Zibanejad has really struggled, so that hasn't helped.

  4. It seems like they've missed the net an insane number of times, even by Rangers standards, it's kind of ridiculous. Plus, they play too much on the perimeter. Their powerplays are basically a practice where they're passing the puck. All of it has been more maddening than ever this season.
  5. I'm kind of on the Gallant bandwagon myself. I think he would be a really good fit here, just a hunch. I think his work with Vegas speaks volumes of what he can do, considering that was an expansion team. He also did a pretty good job with the Panthers, I thought, all things considered there. With Quinn, all we heard about was that he was great with young players when he was a college coach, etc. Like Pete said we haven't really seen much progression from the young players. I mean, Miller has come in and played great, but I think that's more a testament to him than anything. Kaako has been better, but it's hard to be worse than he was last year. I just think that had a lot to do with him playing a lot of hockey last year and just being gassed. He's not necessarily lighting it up on the scoresheet, but he looks much more confident and has been very involved overall so far. Lafreniere I'm really not too worried. I think we've seen he belongs, but, just like the rest, he's been a victim of Quinn's line roulette where it can be hard to get your footing when you're being jerked around a lot. He's just very stubborn with the line management and it's pretty annoying. Not to mention all these years he's been here, the team still looks unprepared almost every game.

I mean, the only line Quinn has really kept together for the most part is the fourth line, and everyone there has been playing well. The bottom six in general has been pretty solid, including Blackwell. Rooney has been a very good fit and Lemieux has been playing some of his best hockey as a Ranger. I don't think Quinn is necessarily all bad, but I feel this is the one of the more talented teams in the league not in a playoff position and that's also an issue. I also feel like Quinn is still trying to coach the college game in the NHL and it just doesn't work. This year more than any I feel he kind of lost the room. We'll see what happens, I guess. If they lose to the Devils who haven't played in three weeks or whatever it is, you really have to start looking at it.

  6. Zib not producing is really killing this team. Their defense has found its form and the goaltending has been solid. Almost all of their games have been close. A few more goals/points from Zibanejad and you could pencil this team into a playoff spot. Hopefully he can get that ice breaker and starts to take off and everything else can continue to be steady.
