  1. Agree 100%. His concern right now should be his long term health as hard as that may be for him to do. He has a whole life in front of him, and if there is any silver lining for him in this, it's the fact he just signed a 4-year deal so his financial future is secured. Hopefully he can come back and play again some day, but that should be a very distant second right now to just taking time and healing up best he can.
  2. They gave it a shot and it didn't work so Drury cut bait. Unfortunately, this really doesn't solve anything as Jake is a downgrade. Hopefully Drury is working on a trade that will address some of their weaknesses, like physicality or going to the dirty areas and net front.
  3. Disagree. It was because of Gus's moronic turnover. Igor was turning because his D had the puck and he was assuming that Gus was making a pass to a Ranger, which anyone would assume. 100% on Gus.
  4. So be it then. When is his trade value going to be high? After his next concussion? They should get his replacement IMO as soon as possible.
  5. Doesn't have to be one for one. Let's face it, Chytil is talented but soft as tissue paper and injury prone, and not just to concussions. It's too bad but it's true, so if we could move him and get Gourde somehow, I'm all for it.
  6. What about one trade for a player that has shown to go to the net and the dirty areas with gusto, like Gourde? If we could pry him out of Seattle as our 3C I think that would help and would be fine with swapping him for Chytil. A 3rd line of Kreider/Gourde/Kakko?
  7. I am the newbie here but am interested in other people opinions about something. I have been a die hard Ranger fan since the Eddie Giocomin days so I have a long history with this team, like many of you I'm sure. My frustration with the team has been building since Torts left and it seems to me that it does not matter who the coaches are or what their philosophy is, this core of players starting with Kreider are simply going to play however they want to play and when things don't work out over time they know it's the GM and/or coach that is going to pay the price. If you look at every coach since Torts, they have ALL said that they need to be more north/south and less east/west, but that NEVER changes. They ALL have said they need to be more physical and go to the hard area and drive the net to get sloppy goals, but they never do with any regularity. The vast majority of their time in the O zone is skating and passing around the perimeter until they try the inevitable cross ice pass through 3 or 4 defenders. They have ALL said they need to shoot more and stop over passing, but that never changes. It almost seems like most of the forwards and some D would rather get an assist on a blind, behind the back pass, than score a goal, and that blows my mind. There are other things but I don't want to rant too much. So, am I crazy or are the inmates running this asylum?
  8. Your opinion, and I respect that but disagree. No goalie can anticipate their D having a massive brain fart like that and turning the puck over behind the net right to a forward that just has to flick his wrist and its in the net. That goal (and the loss to a big part) is on Gus for one of the worst turnovers I have seen in a while. Laffy has to own some of the loss too with his millionth missed wide open net this year. I like the kid, but he misses open nets way too much.
  9. Not trying to defend Igor because he has been hot and cold this year, but that first goal was a brain fart by Gus with an amateurish turn over behind our net that was in our net before Igor could even react. That was in no way on him. And the 2nd goal was a good tip out front that no goalie on planet earth could have reacted to in time to stop it. Igor was very good last night and not the problem.
  10. Is any more evidence needed that this team has ZERO shot at a cup and will be bounced out in the first round again?
  11. So glad I decided to watch the football game instead of these twats. Losing to Anaheim....LOL. They are becoming a punch line.
  12. Another dud from the ladies. Well, at least they get Anaheim and San Jose next, so maybe they can win one of them?
  13. Ladies are lucky to be down only 1. They are getting really good at this non contact hockey thing though.
  14. I was very fond of his freight train on Kadri myself.
  15. One thing they can control and change without making any trades is a commitment to bringing up their "battle level" or whatever you want to call it AND committing to playing hard every minute of every shift they get for at least 60 minutes every game. You can't be at your best every game, no one can, but you can give it all you have every minute of every game and I don't think that is the case with several players. Why are the Flyers on their heels right now? The Rangers have 5x's the Flyers talent, but Torts has the Flyers breaking their asses every shift of every game, or they get sat down no matter who they think they are. I'm not saying the Rangers needs Torts, but they need more of that accountability in my opinion.
  16. I agree with your assessment that he looks lazy at times, like he isn't giving his all. He is not that fast skater in the world and never has been but this season he looks slower and more lethargic, especially in the D zone. I don't know if it's a physical issue or not but it's definitely concerning.
  17. Tough night for the ladies. I'm sure more perimeter play in the O zone and stick checking in the D zone will turn things around in the 3rd.
  18. Rangers better put on their big boy pants and play with some aggression and urgency if they want to beat Vegas tonight. If they play a passive game, it will be a long night for them.
  19. Shocking that the way too soft, perimeter skating, east/west passing, stick checking ladies gave up a 3rd period lead for another loss. Shocking.
  20. Drury needs to make a few trades and bring in a few more non physical, perimeter skating, stick checking, forwards that don't play D and few more passive defenders.
