By in large, NHL players never fail to amaze when it comes to the sheer will to get back on the ice.

This is my favorite Game Day thread title so far this year.

I'm thinking we probably need 4 points out of this trip to stay in the mix. Its a tall order, but its going to take some impressive hockey to get in.

I agree on the value of the Athletic. I spend money on lots of dumb shit over the course of a year, the 60 bucks I pay here is one of the few things I actually get my moneys worth... And for new subscribers, they run discounted promos all the time.

I agree on the Athletic article- I just don't think school is where he wants to be (and that is in no way an indictment of the kid- I don't actually blame him). Additionally, I don't think you can take anything from his season, Wisconsin was a shitshow all year. Get him on the books as a PTO for the remainder of 2020, let him play an entire season in Hartford and reassess in camp in 2021.

This is good news.. Continuity has value, and this leadership team from JD down seems to be getting the job done, and doing it with pace.. Gorton (whose only failing was not being the first GM in the history of sport to bat 1000) and Drury are both being rightly rewarded for a job well done, despite their shit stinking like most humans.

Dreadful effort. With so much on the line, that garbage was inexcusable.

Realistically, all it takes is Eichel going to the GM and the press and demanding a trade. A squeaky wheel, including the best player, can really force the hand of management.. This wouldn't be a money play, once the spirit is broken I'm not sure how an inept management staff can fix it short of a trade. I don't think its out of the question at all to see Eichel moved at some point in the near future.. And on paper you ask for a kings ransom, but history shows us you normally get a quarter, two dimes and a few pennies in exchange for your crisp dollar bill in these trades.

Buffalo is missing the playoffs again and seem directionless..

 

What does a Rangers trade package look like that gets Jack Eichel in return? The kid is dying a slow death there and it?s a crying ass shame.

All the awesomeness of Panarin and Zibby has stolen some of the shine from Lindgren, who was a monster last night. He and Fox are very impressive

The whole "leaving the feet" thing is ridiculously hard to argue in either direction for most hits.. Sure you have some clear launching violations, but for the majority of these hits simple physics is going to result in both feet being off the ice for a time.

If Dal Colle hit Fox in a carbon copy play, I'd also be livid. If no one responded by feeding him his teeth. I'm also honest — that I love old school, physical hockey.

 

I was actually impressed by Pageau, he stepped up as a welterweight fighting a light heavy weight. No better way to endear yourself to a new club, score a goal and fight in response to a hit. I'm actually surprised they call the instigator penalty on him ( I thought Lemieux was the only one who got that called)
