  1. Ok let me put it this way. If, and this is assuming Hank had a good camp and looked real sharp, management went in and spoke to hank one on one. Asked him flat out if he gets this one last kick at the can this year does he plan on retiring. If he says yes, do you start him?

That's an element that I'd really have to think about long and hard about.. Getting off the books scot-free would be huge (but I wouldn't hold my breath) .

That being said, I think Igor is at present the better goalie, I also think he has the most to gain from the experience. Come next year's playoffs I'd much prefer to have Igor with 5 or 11 playoff starts under his belt than 0.

  2. You play the best guy.. I don't know how the practices actually looked, but watching the last 40 games of the season I don't know how the answer can be anything but Shesterkin.

Not coincidentally, a team rode a goalie with 13 career starts to a Stanley Cup.. I'm going to give all the credit to the keeper and not Crosby, Malkin etc.. It's my narrative.

  3. You guys poo pooing what happened in 94 in the guise of, "give me new memories" need to get your fucking head checked. For those of us that lived through it (I was 10 and I don't remember everything, but I remember enough and I fucking cry when I see anything relating to 1994 including the "1940" chants), it was the most amazing thing that's ever happened to a Rangers fan.

Yeah, it happened 26 years ago. Go find another bowl of cheerios to piss in, this one's untouchable.

    All of this^^^

It was fucking awesome. I turned 21 a week after game 7, but still tied a good one on during the parade. It?s was ridiculously hot that day, but man I wouldn?t have missed it for anything.

I was at the guarantee game in Jersey... but that parade is a memory I?ll never let go of..

  4. Would that even be possible?

The only teams in the lottery are the 7 worst + the losers in the play-in round. So in the unlikely scenario where the Rangers catch fire and win the Cup, their own pick is obviously not a lottery pick.

You then get the worst pick of either Canes or Leafs. If they both lose in the play-in, both are lottery picks. The only way this is possible in theory is if the pick they get is awarded pre-lottery. Will it be?

Even if it is, the worst of those 2 picks will most likely be in the 13-15 range, with a 1 to 2% chance of getting number one.

If we win the cup.. I'd settle for 13-15 range

  5. You have 3 goalies..

    2 of them "young"

1 of them comes in late and takes the #1 job.. Rendering the split in the beginning of the season null.

I don't see it as "disrespect" having the 38 year old goalie with the 3rd best numbers on the season sitting on the bench.. It makes even more sense when you get the opportunity to see what you have with the 24 year old goalie. You know what you have with #30, it makes no sense not to have #40 be the second keeper- especially when there may be some trade value to potentially grow.

If Hank were to start bitching about it publicly, its a real story.. Right now, in my mind, this is nothing more than the proper management of a hockey roster.

  6. If I had to guess. Probably about 90% of every professional athlete in every sport. What “we” as internet posters not in the situation have experienced is irrelevant. As someone that has lived on the other side of the world at a young age and spoke none of the language, I can empathize. However, that’s a regular occurrence for a large portion of pro athletes so with the idea of playing professionally comes a huge responsibility he’s failed to live up to mostly because he seems more like a mental midget than the rest of his counterparts.

You are 100% correct. In the grand scheme of things, what anyone not named Lias Anderson experiences doesn't mean shit for the purposes of this conversation. People hit their strides at different ages, regardless of profession-

I'm more worried about his lack of evidenced skill than I am him being a brat in this scenario.. you can grow up and out of the brat stage, not sure the skill will ever be there.

  7. I'd be curious what percentage of the posters here were on their own at 21, working in their career of choice?

People mature at different rates. I see far too many 21, hell 31 year olds who still need to grow up.

Kid may very well be a flop because his skill set was completely overestimated.. But a 21 year old acting like an idiot isn't exactly a news flash.

  8. I moved to Charlotte from NJ to go to college ages ago. The city is so much bigger than it was when I moved here in 92, I got hooked on the weather, the job market, and the pace of life. I'd have to get paid a truck load of money to move back to the Tri State area- I love to visit and all that it has to offer, but I can't imagine being there 365 days a year.
  9. Sure they can, MLB adds compensatory picks at the end of the 1st round at the drop of a hat.

Maybe there's a whole supplemental round between the 2nd and 3rd, or 1st and 2nd rounds.

That's been collectively bargained. NFL Does it too, but its an understood and bargained process. Hard to throw that in without having an agreed upon process.

If the NHL were to add, it would have to limit it to pending UFA's..
