  1. No, I agree with you. But I think what Phil and I are saying is that it's not going to provide the satisfaction than fans think it will. That goes especially for the NHL where no one answers for anything outside of a few generic quotes.
  2. His skating might be the worst I've ever seen.
  3. Yep, and if you look at what happened in the NFL this past weekend, the NFL basically doubled down, backed their refs, and said the Lions fucked up.
  4. "It had to happen, something had to happen" He had to get high-sticked in the face like that? lol Everyone clutched their pearls and threw out suggestions of 20-game+ suspensions when Trouba clearly accidentally hit Frederic in the head with his stick. But, this obvious pre-meditated chickenshit retaliation is just going to get brushed aside.
  5. It's pretty surprising he's clearly desperate for a North American hockey gig. He's made $37M in the NHL in his career. Now he's basically playing for per diem in the AHL. I guess he just doesn't want to play in Russia right now.
  6. I think it's too simple to point to one stat, especially one so devoid of context as 5-on-5 goal differential, and say they're not contenders. They are who they are. They make their hay on the powerplay. It's not something that should just be tossed out. Yes the game is called differently in the playoffs, especially in playoff OT, but powerplays are still awarded. And I'll take a team that scores on 1 out of every 3 powerplays any day of the week. Their 5v5 play is improved over last year, and we saw that early. I think they've struggled a bit at 5v5 lately because they're really feeling the lack of quality depth. Brodzinski - Bonino - Cuylle is just not a good enough 3rd line.
  7. Absolutely. A lot of competition so far this year. Great to see!

  9. I don't have a Quest, but I have an Oculus Rift. I think it's pretty cool, but it's definitely not for everyone. Some people get motion sickness very easily, so it's a total non-starter. There are some cool games that at worthwhile, like Beatsaber. Overall, for $350 or whatever it is, I think it's good as long as you temper your expectations. It'll be somewhat fun and there are some cool things, but it's limited by a number of factors. Also, you need a Facebook account to use it.
  10. I saw someone say something about how the Metro teams have a lot of back-to-backs to make up for the fact their travel is easier - it's way the NHL tried to equalize strength of schedule. I don't know how true that is, but someone suggested it.
  11. Totally nailed it. As a defenseman, playing scared is a surefire way out of the NHL - especially if you don't have any other skills to speak of, as is the case with Lindgren.
  12. That's completely untrue. He tried twice last year and almost scored on one of them, missed by a foot. Missed by inches two seasons ago.
  13. The last game against the Leafs notwithstanding, where they got trounced like 7-0, they've been playing pretty well. They just can't score on the PP, which is crazy given the level of talent they have. Apparently Todd Rierden is the PP coach there, so they should have taken him off the PP like yesterday.
  14. If you ask a lot of ex-players like Methot, the onus is on the person receiving the hit to not get hit from behind, not the person delivering the hit. I don't even really necessary disagree, Lindgren is clearly putting his body on the line to make a play. "Take a hit to make the play" is a mantra, especially in the NHL; so as long as that's the case, I don't see what defensemen are supposed to do. With that play, if Lindgren plays it to avoid all contact or limit contact, he probably gets his pocket picked and gives the Bruins a scoring chance - that's obviously not good. If he tries what Methot is suggesting, "get the wall and absorb", he turns the start of a breakout into a 50/50 puck battle. Pretty dumb, IMO. Protect the puck a bit, draw the forechecker in, take the hit, and move it along the boards. Pasta didn't have to board the shit out of him. He's still just mad he got rocked 2 years ago because he's a bitch.
  15. Nice, I really enjoy classical guitar. Congrats and good luck!
  16. It's only 25 years old and it's on the Red Line, right next to Chinatown. This move is a total joke and is a obvious power move by Leonsis and VA Governor Glenn Youngkin. This new proposed location, Potomac Yard, is near Alexandria, not in it. There's a new Metro stop there, but it's one of the least used Metro stops in the entire system. There are hardly any bars and restaurants, at least compared to the current location in downtown DC. It's just an obvious greed move. I feel bad for the fans because this is a definite downgrade. Oh, and good luck drawing fans to the new arena after Ovechkin retires. Idk if the Wizards are any good. I used to live in the area, so that's why I feel so passionately lol
  17. Alright, let's get back on topic somewhat. The salary deferral is insane to me. I can't believe the MLB allowed that.
