Game of Thrones (TV Show Discussion Only) *DO NOT POST SPOILERS*
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in TV, Music, & Movies
The person that's actually being positive about something is the contrarian? The world we live in is that everything sucks and everyone hates everything. It's exhausting. There was no chance they could satisfy everyone and yet the vocal minority of haters get the majority of attention. I'd love to know what you thought didn't make sense. Yeah, and I don't know Bronn by name, sorry lol. -
Kakko Overtaking Hughes as the Number One Pick?
ThirtyONE replied to BlairBettsBlocksEverything's topic in In The System
If the Rangers get Kakko and try to force him into Center when they already have a few centers they're forcing to be wings, I'm going to be upset. -

ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in TV, Music, & Movies
You can't end the show with Cersei being alive, because then the show isn't over. As far as storylines go, the finale made sense for every single character. It floors me that people say "the writing sucks" and shit on the two writers when really it just didn't end like YOU wanted it to. -

The fact that I had to look up who Bron was, makes me disagree. Sorry it didn't turn out how you personally wanted it to, but in terms of writing it was great. Can't satisfy everyone I guess, but everything makes sense and dates back to earlier seasons. -

That was the best finale of any major television series ever and likely the greatest show ever made. Well done to all that worked on it over the last however many years. -
article: Rangers? Defensive Logjam Needs Breaking This Summer
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
People have been shitting on Marc Staal for years but he’s the only plus defender in the last two seasons (collectively) and has been beyond steady. Yes, I’m sure there’s some kind of advanced stat based on zone starts or whatever that says he’s garbage but as far as being a leader and defensive defender, he’s a useful piece to a rebuilding team that has no idea how to keep the puck out of their net. I’d much rather keep him than Shattenkirk or Smith or Pionk even. -
confirmed: Rangers Sign D Yegor Rykov to 2-Year ELC
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Wow. Didn’t see this happening. I can hardly take all the positivity. -
But you don't draft for "now" you draft for "later." Who is the better player down the road? Hard to know but it seems people think Hughes is the better all around player in the long run. Right now? Yes. Kakko is head and shoulders above Hughes, literally. He's dynamic in every aspect of the game. I argued that if we get Hughes he should spend time in the minors before being thrust into the NHL roster. Where as Kakko would probably become a 1st or 2nd line player immediately.
-
He's doing unbelievably well but I don't think one tournament, much less one goal against Denmark is going to change the Devil's minds.

Fresh blood organization-wide. I don't hate it. -
[brooks] Rangers Must Decide Whether to Keep or Deal Kreider
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
5m a year. Sure. That's what he's worth. Anything higher than that is a huge mistake. I have no problem with the Rangers walking away from overpriced players and continuing down the rebuild path. You don't pay people just because. -
Kakko is the better player right now. I don’t know if that means Hughes will eventually overtake him but Kakko is better suited for the next stage of his career.
-
I would be. I'll be disappointed for sure.

Kakko has 3 goals in the tournament now. I'm beginning to worry that the Devils are going to take him over Hughes. At the moment, he's the more attractive pick, IMO. He looks like a man out there.

[brooks] Rangers Must Decide Whether to Keep or Deal Kreider
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Kreider's issue is not his center. He has stone hands. He would be a 2nd liner on most good teams. -
He did what he had to do to make a living. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t smart.

[brooks] Rangers Must Decide Whether to Keep or Deal Kreider
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Kreider is a 50 point player. He gets 5m, period. If he were putting up 40 goals and 10 assists it would be a different story, but he's not. If he doesn't want 5m, he can go get it in Edmonton. I love Kreider but he's a complimentary player. -
2019 Off-Season Thread: We Got This Bread, Man
ThirtyONE replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
I really like how the Rangers are set up beyond the team at the moment (president questions aside). I think Quinn has a great demeanor and personality and I think we saw huge strides with most of our players in a "lost cause" kind of scenario. I think Jeff Gorton has done an absolutely incredible job managing assets and rebuilding this thing much quicker than I anticipated. But, most of all, I think I appreciate how open they are in the media. To me, that's a critical element to walking a fanbase through a rebuild. There were no boos this year at the garden, no unhappy fans. Everyone is on the same page from GM - players - fans and I'm honestly shocked. People have always said you can't rebuild in New York. It's not over yet but so far so good. I've very happy with the direction of the club. -
I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. #19 and #28 are not anywhere near as valuable as #10 (or higher). I don't see any team doing that.
-
Middlestadt? That's it? Middlestadt or bust? You know he also hasn't been great. I just don't understand how you can constantly shit on a rookie. I don't get the thought process behind that.
-
At what point would you just be satisfied with his play? If he becomes a reliable NHL player, does it really matter where he was drafted? Considering we are already two years beyond this draft and still somehow talking about drafting him at 7, in complete hindsight, who would you want instead? The list of players who have significant NHL time from that draft is very short. I just don't understand why anyone would expect Andersson to be a great player at 20 years old.
