I mean the Rangers have given him every chance to succeed. 2-3 seasons worth of chances. If your backup can't win a game against the Sabres when your offense scores 4, there's no sugarcoating it anymore. I agree, feels like it's Kincaid's turn.

Doesn't have to be a top prospect. I mean is Hunter Skinner someone we're really holding out hope for? Some of these guys have to go, it feels like a perfect time to nab someone. I like the idea of a 2nd liner who can play down, rather than the other way around. IMO Rangers weren't planning to have even Dryden Hunt in the lineup on a nightly basis so that fact that he was even before Blais injury speaks to their desperation.

Doesn't make sense to me to offer Gauthier considering that's literally the position where we have no depth. Offer a young dman. We have a million to spare.

We're starting to see some of that offensive upside with Trouba too. It's not just the heavy hitting, it's jumping into the play and making shit happen below the opposing teams goal line. It seems like some of these guys are having a real revival and I'll be curious to see how it continues to play out. Is it a Gerrard Gallant effect? Maybe too early to say.

There's a lot of interesting names in Hartford, IMO. I'm not overly excited about Morgan Barron, but I'd love to see Pajiuenemi (or however you spell it) get a look. They need a winger. Ronning? IDK anything about him other than he's been in the system forever and hasn't impressed enough to get a look, even when the lineup was trash.

I don't want to keep Stome. I mentioned in the other thread. I don't think he or Chytil are Cup caliber centers. I certainly don't wanna lock into Strome long term -- which is what I'm assuming it's going to take.

This team has a serious problem. They simply don't control the puck at all. They play defense for what seems like 90% of the game. Even in the games they've won. Their top 6 does either does not possess the ability to forecheck, win puck battles, and keep pressure on the opposing defense or they simply refuse to do it. I have no idea how they fix it.

Management can reconsider how they "develop" players. Igor didn't come here until he was 25. Look how good he is. These kids that go straight to the NHL have never played pro hockey in their lives and now they're supposed to do what McDavid or Crosby did. The expectations are just unrealistic. Yes, they're playing with good players but why not dominate the lower levels first? Why not learn what it's like to be a pro? Outgrow each level before coming to the NHL. I get that there's pressure to just throw them to the wolves but who is that helping? The biggest element to "development" is confidence. Without confidence, you have nothing.

I'm not sure how Lafreniere "fucked up." 5 years from now, if the Rangers got nothing from 1 and 2 overall in successive drafts, that's on the Rangers organization. Not the players.

Trouba was one of 4 players in that equation that got undressed and allowed the best player in the world to get to the middle.

I know the Habs just picked up Dvorak but they're a sinking ship. I wonder if he'd be available. Chytil was great last night too, you know? Maybe there is some upside there. But grit isn't hitting or fighting, it's being hard to play against. None of our current centers are hard to play against. I can look past it with Mika because he's gifted offensively but the Rangers were dead last in faceoffs last year. They're dead last again this year. Aside from Chytil last night, their centers are all perimeter players. I just don't think that's a recipe for success.
