I'm starting to think some piece of the core needs to go. The vibe I got from the Trouba interview tonight was that the leadership aside from him isn't leading, isn't fighting, isn't willing the game in their favor at all and if that's the case, the core really is too soft to lead by example and fight for wins. I kinda wish Kreider got the C only because I think it would have evoked more of that from him, something he showed last season. Kreider is such a disappointment in that he doesn't play as tough as he could with his size, speed, and strength.

GDT [RS #26] Rangers vs Chicago Blackhawks — End the Pain

Could we turn Trouba into a top 6 RW? Cause he's an awful defenseman -

I will take the loss if it means a cab is called tonight -
Shesty's fundamentals and technique seem way too strong to actually be a career average goaltender. He could end up not being the second coming of Hank like we all thought or hoped, but also gotta remember how insane Shesty's stats were last year with NO defense and a team that lacked possession most of the time. I think with even the slightest defensive structure he'll be posting shutouts left and right and get back to putting up the stats we expect.

Assume Laf and his agent are willing to take this deal: would anyone feel comfortable giving Laf an 8 year, 5 mil per contract? NMC of course. Sort of a thought exercise in whether we see that contract as a future steal or a future anchor. I would but only cause I'm a gambling man and also an optimist, curious what others think. -
Gallant's responses lately are almost as bad as Zach Wilson's response last week, bring on Trotz. If Trotz wasn't available I'd give Gallant longer, but if I'm Drury I'm happy I have the justification for pulling the trigger and I do it ASAP.

GDT [RS #16] Rangers @ Nashville Predators — Bizarro McDonagh Reunion

This game is on the PP. It was a good showing at even strength, common theme of dominating possession and SOG and still losing. And while they got a lot of 5v5 chances and couldn't find the back of the net, that's easier to swallow than a 4 minute powerplay squandered. If PP showed up Rangers win this game. -
And he got right back up and the guy who hit him was shaken up instead lol. I'm hoping Gauthier continues to embrace this tough role. Crashing the net, hitting, scrumming/sticking up for teammates. If he does all these things consistently he's a great bottom 6 forward imo. If he does start finding the back of the net he could be a good top 6 forward too.

Wait, would that have gone in if Shesty didn't move the net? -

Who whiffed that hit? lol -
Yes this is what I meant. I know Crosby has elevated plenty of below average linemates to look really good. But away from his lines he's had much more complete teams able to compete in the playoffs.

I feel like Crosby had better teams around him than McDavid. I also just hate Crosby and think Mcdavid is still going to get better, I pick McDavid.

Gauthier's been playing really well leading up to this game, I'm so happy for him scoring that goal and getting another shot with this team. He's been skating hard, fighting for pucks, hitting, going to the net. All things this team needs more of so if he keeps this up, he should absolutely keep his spot. -
Laf - Zib - Kakko Bread - Tro - Blais Kreider - Goodrow - Gaut for the current unhealthy team Laf - Zib - Kakko Bread - Tro - Krav Kreider - Chytil - Blais when healthy, unless of course Gaut earns a spot

GDT [RS #8] Rangers @ New York Islanders — Here We Go Again

One thing I notice is when they DO start just shooting and playing more simply which they definitely tried some of, is that it always seems like a 1 and done. They don't get the rebounds, I don't know if it's bad puck luck or positioning or what but it's frustrating to watch. -

They didn't rely this heavily on the Mika one-timer last year, now it's their only PP move so of course the opposing team just glues a guy onto him and they're lost. I think we need a better shot on the point. -

Injury Report Filip Chytil Out With Suspected Concussion
Tonybologna replied to Phil's topic in New York Rangers
Looked sneaky intentional to me, but sneaky enough it wouldn't be able to be disciplined and that we could never say for sure it was intentional. Also injuries don't always look violent, even those that end up being really bad injuries. I hope he doesn't end up with a short career and concussion issues.
