Good, keep him away though

Explains why Quinn kept saying he didn’t know what lineup they’d use.

Blackwell - Rooney - Gauthier could be a solid 4th line. Not as physical as I would like, but they’ll grind and score a few goals.

Yeah, I feel the same, but you'd hope Howden develops in to more than Rooney. Howden should be a very good 4th C. He can skate, has the brains, has the size, and there should be just a hair of offensive ability there, but there isn't.

Howden is another case of over-thinking on the ice. He's not even going to the net like he did last season. I even suggested using him as the wing with Panarin and Strome, to see if it gets him going.

Howden has to be a complimentary player on this line, and that's been an issue when he's playing with PDG and Lemieux.

Maybe he will be better than Rooney, but at this point, Howden is completely irrelevant.

Why does this team allow late goals at the rate we do this season? Mentioned in the last GDT, the lack of support along the boards where Buch was doing his work was glaring and I immediately felt something bad was about to happen. Don't the players have that same sense? I get it's all split-second decision making and all, but allowing late goals is not a 1-off thing for this squad. Also, BUF playing a new system looks good on them - that certainly wasn't a push-over team or an EZ win despite controlling the middle 55 minutes very well.

No leadership, no shutdown pair, no shutdown C. Find a successful team without these.

Youngest team in the league no?

I’m not worried about it

I think the frustration is that it's been an on-going theme for what seems like decades.

I think Fox made a bad play last game on the goal against, but he'll learn. As I mentioned in that thread, rather see Fox screwing up and learning than Smith, in general.

But I don't anticipate Fox/Lindgren being a top shut down pair. I'd love to see Miller get those minutes, and Trouba is paid to be playing those minutes.

We don't have a roster spot or ice time to allow Howden to "develop." Enough is enough!

More shots, less extra passes. Thank you.

More shots!! Yes!!

...also may I add, "Put them on goal, and maybe get a rebound?"

I like seeing Igor in there again too!!! Should be a big win again tonight! I feel another big Fox game in the making!!!

More shost on goal? Who would think that a recipe for success? *sarcasm*

Odd dynamic these days in NHL - either you blast away and hope to reach the net more often than not, or you pass-pass-pass-pass to find that open lane. Somewhere between the two is a balance. Guys are so good at getting sticks in lanes these days that the pass-pass-pass system has become the dominant style of play. It does raise the blood pressure, and also the euphoria when the red light finally comes on following a fast, accurate passing sequence. Finding the right balance is key and we seem to skew passing over shooting. Maybe it just looks like that though, didn't we have 38 SOG last game at some point? Seems like enough to win, right?

Is this a bad time to let you know that Fox/Lindgren is one of the best defensive pairs in the NHL right now?

All seriousness since the Wild are one of the few teams I haven't watch too much this year since the beginning to see Krill, are Suter and Spurgeon one of the best shut down D pair in the league though?

Would be interesting to see Miller - Fox and Lindgren - Trouba for some games.

Lindgren - Fox obviously works and is one of the best D pairs in the league this season, but it would be nice to see what Lindgren can do without Fox.

If it doesnt work, fine, switch back. If it does work we could have one hell of a «shut down D pair» in Lindgren - Trouba and one hell of a «offensive D pair» with Miller - Fox.

Lindgren’s been playing his way to a big/long extension this year, so would be nice to test his versatility before that. There’s times I think even I could play with Adam Fox because of how good he is lol. (Not taking anything away from Lindgren, he’s been really good this year and continues to improve, I really like him).
