TwoMinutesForNothing
Are they being shady and just not releasing them?because that’s suspicious and I would walk away. Or is this one of those things where they only release them right before a trade happens? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk With his blatant medical issues I would think we would need to see them before we would even be able to negotiate a fair deal. Capt
I don't understand how there can be serious trade discussions with them if you can't see the medical records. His health is the biggest negative to trading for him. Has it been reported that any other team has been given access? It would seem impossible to get a deal done before tomorrow if no team has seen the records. What a shit show Buffalo is.
LindG1000
They would only release the records once a trade's been nearly completed. All this means is that nothing is close enough.
Flynn
With a 10 mill AAV and a massive return package, I'd want to see the medicals and have a full on physical with MRI, neck specialists, etc... far enough in advance so that you are pulling the plug prior to draft day if you don't like what you see. I just don't see how you can make this move right now and feel comfortable you have done the appropriate due diligence when a 1st round pick is presumably part of the package. I wouldn't be surprised if an agreement has a European Soccer style situation where the acquiring team makes the deal contingent on passing a physical to the teams' satisfaction BEFORE the deal. You can negotiate in good faith with Buffalo so long as they're forthright about what they know and what they've done, but you can't pull the trigger without knowing all of it on a deal this big. BrooksBurner
Basically, Buffalo wants an offer for what a healthy Jack Eichel is worth. A team will not continue a trade for Eichel if the medical records are concerning. If they see the medical records and continue with trading for him, Buffalo knows that team thinks the injury isn't serious enough to sway them. Phil
> All of which has teams wondering: Are the Rangers the leading contender to acquire Jack Eichel? Sources say the Rangers have quietly checked with each of the teams holding a pick inside the Top 10 of Friday’s Draft, inquiring about the price to acquire it. (New York’s first-round pick is No. 16 overall.) The belief is the Rangers would like to package that pick in a transaction for Eichel, as the Sabres are reportedly seeking another lottery-range pick to go with their No. 1 overall selection. Teams in conversation with the Sabres have said the asking price for Eichel is “astronomical.” Buffalo is looking for a futures-type deal with multiple prospects and picks involved. A team like the Minnesota Wild, for instance, that would be interested in Eichel doesn’t necessarily have the ability to pull off that type of transaction because they would be relying on their prospects and picks in a couple years to help them through their ‘dead cap era’ looming from the buyouts to Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seravalli-ice-breakers-rangers-the-team-to-watch-as-nhl-trade-freeze-lifts/

RichieNextel305
I’m sure we’re in. There’s been too much reported to think otherwise. The Rangers are definitely interested in Eichel. But the way the Sabres have botched this entire situation is truly bizarre. Like others have said, they’re acting as if Eichel is 100% healthy and on a team friendly deal, neither of which are true. There certainly is a deal to be made here. We have assets that represent fair value. Kevyn Adams is sniffing glue while out to lunch thinking he’s getting close to what he’s asking for. I get it, it’s his job to start high. But this isn’t the start. This isn’t the middle. We’re virtually at the end here, where your asking price should be getting more realistic once everyone scoffed at your high original asking price. ThirtyONE
So it sounds like Buffalo might not trade him at all. If the draft comes and goes and Eichel isn't moved, you'd have to think he stays with the team based on the fact that a 1st is no longer available. If that's the case, how can they start the year next year with this hanging over everyone? Seems like a recipe for failure.
Sharpshooter
I read where the Rangers haven't even received his medical reports yet, so I can only assume that no other teams have either? I figured Eichel would definitely be dealt on Draft Day, but now those chances have dropped considerably.
BlairBettsBlocksEverything
I think what you see with every GM now is they will utilize every second of time they have to make decisions. Keep asking as much as possible until you can't ask any more. But I don't think Buffalo can afford to not get something in THIS draft out of Eichel. trading him in a month for futures in the next draft that won't immediately improve the team's outlook will be a really tough look. If they think the Rangers are the only team that has assets to give to make this trade, they need to get the 15th pick

If Eichel was ok and wanted to facilitate a move, he'd probably sneakily share them. OR, it isn't great, he has shared it, which is why Drury is keeping hte asking price down
ThirtyONE
Feels somewhat like a game of chicken. Who blinks first? To my untrained eye, I don't think any team has the assets to make this trade other than the Rangers and because of that, the return for Eichel should remain relatively low. If the Sabres don't make a move before the draft, I can't see them doing anything until next season.

RichieNextel305
Doesn’t Eichel have a NMC kick in next season? If they waste this, then you narrow the field moving forward. I just don’t get it. He’s hurt and he doesn’t want to be there. I understand wanting a kings ransom. But the package Adams is waiting for isn’t going to come. I’m sure good offers have come by that have been turned down because he’s waiting for this magical offer to come that just isn’t going to come. Dangerous game. So he goes from probably not being traded to being able to having control over where he's not being traded. From the Sabres perspective, it's moot, and from Eichel's perspective, it's also moot. It's a fake clock. Eichel's going to say yes to any trade if he wants out.
BlairBettsBlocksEverything
I mean, at the end of the day, if they think they are gonna get a deal done with the NYR, they have until the Rangers are on the clock tonight to get it done (assuming they need that pick in this trade). Of course if you wait that long, Anaheim's #3 and LA's #8 are already off the table and you've lost even more leverage
