Albatrosss
kid got one year to prove he can contribute something meaningful. Make or break, i say.
siddious
At worst a third line option. Hope he can turn it up still.

Sod16
Good. Time to forget he was a No. 2 overall. I look forward to a nice career as a defensive third line forward who has ocassional short lived scoring chances and the persistant, if limited, chance that he will be something more. So long as he gets paid for what he is, fine.
Pete
Easiest decision of the summer. Doesn't mean he won't get traded though.

Mistercosmic
A little bit much for a fourth liner, but we'll see.
Gravesy
That’s fine. Let’s not waste everyone’s time pretending he’s our 1st line winger in training camp. 3rd line guy. That’s the expectation now.

Again, he's not blocking anybody (period, let alone somebody better than he is) just because of his draft pedigree. He'll be traded or waived if a guy like Berard beats him out of camp. Yea exactly. we’ll see at camp where he’s at.
4EverRangerFrank
It’s a ‘show me’ deal and I’m ok with it. Plenty of possible upside value if he performs. Could also work as a sign-n-trade if a better deal comes along.
Keirik
Perfectly tradeable
Br4d
One less thing to worry about for the Rangers. Lots of balls up in the air would be my guess.

Kakko has 4 goals and 9 points in 44 playoff games (0.2 P/GP). Kakko is more like end of career Rick Nash. Big for no reason. Never scores. Exists purely to eat the clock.

This is only true of guys on ELCs. It's not true of all available options, which are now limited because his $2.4 million is now $2.4 million less they have to spend on a player they might have been able to sign to replace him. I'd rather have given Dakota Joshua $4 million a year to ride shotgun to 20-93 and back filled with an ELC third-line RW than given Kakko $2.4 million to be their third-line RW while the team's top RW void yawns wider.

This contract does not stop them from signing anybody. There's a summer bonus cushion for this reason.
