Blue Heaven Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Could this be b/c Waddell wanted to go in a different direction w/ a coach and ownership wanted to bring Brind'Amour back?

They granted him permission to speak to other teams in 2022 as well. Then they wound up extending him. He's 65, they have been in talks about replacing him since 2022. It probably didn't help that he swung for the fences at the deadline and missed.
Phil Posted May 24 Posted May 24 32 Thoughts said he interviewed in Columbus and that Dundon basically knew they weren't keeping him anyway. He's likely gonna go right to the Jackets while Wunderkid Tulsky gets the interim tag taken off because he's the cheapest option. Poverty ass franchise. 1
Br4d Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Somebody was likely to go after the Canes 2nd round exit. The 65 year old GM is probably the best candidate to take the fall. Why? Because now there will be a new GM looking at the plan and trying to fill in the gaps that Waddell obviously couldn't.
Sod16 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Very strange that a GM resigns days after inking a coach to a long term deal.
Scott Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Off to take JD's job as he gets shuffled out the door to an advisory role.
