Rangers Re-Sign K'Andre Miller to 2-Year/$7.744M Extension; $3.872M AAV

Recommended Posts

Perfect. Was always gonna be a bridge. $3.95M AAV incoming.

The market really discounted this extension. That number is around 20% lower than it should be.

They'll pay for it on the next deal ($7M, probably).

Also LOL at the extra tag on this thread. Well done @BrooksBurner

This is gonna hurt in two years, but for now? Perfect.

Maybe. Maybe not. They'll pay to keep him regardless, but shit can change dramatically when he's up for his next deal.

Fucking Drury!!!  Making me love him a lot today!!!!

This is perfect!!!!!  ....The Boss @Phil is right, this was always gonna be a bridge...it pretty much had to be, I think.

But should be able to do 3 things with this type deal:

1. See what K' really has under the hood with Lavvy at the helm

2. Give us time to clear up some heave contracts (Trouba, etc), and see what the cap looks like with the jump

3. Ride out the Igor window and see where we're at with him after he goes UFA

One down, and just Donut Hole left to go!!!!

100% had to be. They had like $6M~ in available cap room this coming year. Any long-term deal for Miller is gonna cost at least that IMO. They kick the can down the road here, but a lot can change when he's up for renewal. It's fine.

The market didn't drive this contract down, Drury is a really good negotiator. He's gotten Shesty and Zib under market and now he's gotten Miller under market.

Even Trocheck's deal is arguably a "good" one. It was probably unnecessary for the Rangers to sign, but the deal itself is less than he probably could have gotten elsewhere (6?).

So far he’s better than Gorton at it, that’s for sure.

Yup. I know there's overlap, but judging purely on contracts alone, there's no comparison:

Gorton:

Panarin 11.64

Trouba 8.0

Kreider 6.5

Drury:

Lindgren 3.0

Miller 3.872

Fox 9.5

Zibanejad 8.5

Trocheck 5.625

Goodrow 3.64

Chytil 4.43

Shesterkin 5.6
