Is Orlov really worth all of that?  I actually think Craig Smith is pretty good. This trade confuses me a little.

They've totally fallen off and their entire D corps (sans Carlson) are free agents. 

This is a pretty big trade IMO. Hathaway is a total prick and will fit that Bruins roster so well. Orlov is pretty solid and he'll be playing less difficult minutes.

I mean, he won. They won. I'm sure they'd like to win again, but I'd imagine he's pretty content even if he never does again.

I get what @Peteis saying, I would bet they gave Ovi the courtesy of letting him know and even weighing in on the direction they were going to go. Losing his father has probably  knocked hockey down a rung or two on the ladder at this stage in his life too, at least for now.
