Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
Or - or - maybe a big fast guy who can win draws and play defense might just post up down the middle. Could be an idea, but dont see him centering a line in the top 6 and cant pay 6.5m for a 3rd liner.
Drew a Penalty
OK maybe they need to add a prospect or something, but Rangers might want Byfield a lot because he is huge, center and is younger. And also not as good and considered significantly more raw as a prospect. It isn't happening. Lafreniere is highly regarded amongst potential first overalls. Trading back is terrible asset management.
CaptainMorganBarron
Guy, please — PLEASE — turn off NHL20. For all our sakes. stop with the NHL 20 comments, it is getting annoying.

How about we just take the consensus #1 and figure out things like positions elsewise? There's a flobbity jillion decent mid six centers out there. There's one Lafreniere. Yeah, but they wont do that. They'll find a way to get a center, but when you get gifted the 1st OA you take the best player.

Karan
We just fucking won the draft lottery barely minutes ago, can we not just enjoy this for one day before ripping apart the roster and making all kinds of outrageous trade proposals? lol

Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
Take a center with the second first rounder. Should get a solid middle-6 center with a 20-25th pick in this deep draft.
Phil
When you have a player of Lafreniere's caliber it is. Dawg. In this case, no. As a general principle, moving back is actually good asset management because it usually means you can net multiple first-rounders.

CaptainMorganBarron
Kreider's contract just became a lot worse. Will be a 3rd liner as soon as 21-22 season. yes, that is why Rangers are in the tough situation where they might decide to trade the pick because having a 6.5 million 3rd line winger for 6 years might be too rich for them. Pete
OK maybe they need to add a prospect or something, but Rangers might want Byfield a lot because he is huge, center and is younger. This is like the Pens trading down from Crosby to take Bobby Ryan because they had Lemieux at center.

So you move Kreider. Not the supremely talented LW on an ELC. Who moves Lafreniere to keep Kreider? That makes no sense.
