OK maybe they need to add a prospect or something, but Rangers might want Byfield a lot because he is huge, center and is younger.

And also not as good and considered significantly more raw as a prospect. It isn't happening. Lafreniere is highly regarded amongst potential first overalls. Trading back is terrible asset management.

How about we just take the consensus #1 and figure out things like positions elsewise?

There's a flobbity jillion decent mid six centers out there. There's one Lafreniere.

Not normally, it isn't. In this case, I have no interest whatsoever.

It's not necessarily but the king's aren't giving us #2 and turcotte and more.

When you have a player of Lafreniere's caliber it is.

Dawg. In this case, no. As a general principle, moving back is actually good asset management because it usually means you can net multiple first-rounders.

This is like the Pens trading down from Crosby to take Bobby Ryan because they had Lemieux at center.

yes, that is why Rangers are in the tough situation where they might decide to trade the pick because having a 6.5 million 3rd line winger for 6 years might be too rich for them.

So you move Kreider. Not the supremely talented LW on an ELC. Who moves Lafreniere to keep Kreider? That makes no sense.
