so is going with Quinn when there is Laviolette available. You cannot blame anybody but Trouba for the brutal mistakes he makes. and he is not some rookie where you think he will improve, he is just nervous or inexperienced. Those are some serious blunders.

How does Trouba relate to Quinn and Laviolette? You're the only person who keeps bringing up Quinn and Laviolette. Laviolette has absolutely no relevance to the Rangers currently. They're not firing Quinn right now. It isn't happening no matter how much you try to will it into existence.

Veterans make mistakes. Veterans can get nervous. It's almost like Trouba is human.

You make coaching change not when the coach has overstayed his welcome, but when there are better options available. Just like when you trade a player, you wait to long you get garbage return. If we fire Quinn in a year or 2 there might be no great coach available at that time.

Give me an example of a team that has ever done a coaching change that way. Most are set up to succeed until they don't anymore.

Great, so you admit that your desire to remove Trouba is leading your push to have him removed, then. Glad we could settle that.

Islanders with Trotz replacing Weight. Where would Islanders be now without Trotz? Panthers with Quenneville replacing Boughner.

Doug Weight was an interim, who was formerly the assistant coach to Capuano (2011-201), who was then fired when the entire organization was shaken up with the firing of Snow and hiring of Lamiorello. Not comparable.

Boughner led a Florida team that should've been more competitive in its division to back-to-back playoff misses. Quenneville took over and what strides have they taken?

The Rangers are rebuilding. A coach isn't going to alter the fact that they don't have the personnel.

Rangers acquired Panarin and Trouba. They aren't truly rebuilding. They can get to contension much sooner if they hire Laviolette. They can even keep Quinn as an assistant or as head coach in Hartford.

Laviolette doesn't change the fact that you still have Staal and Smith on defense. Laviolette doesn't change the fact that the Rangers have poor scoring depth when Panarin and Zibanejad aren't leading the way.

The Rangers are still rebuilding. Signing Panarin and Trouba didn't change that. John Davidson, the President of the Rangers, said it himself:

"Some people, and I think this is wrong, have said that 'they've gone against their rebuild by signing Panarin.' I don't think so. He's got a lot of years ahead of him. He's part of this build. And he's going to take a lot of pressure off the kids," he said.

"This is how we're going to get it done. If we're ever going to make a serious run at a championship, you can't stickhandle every summer and hope it's going to work. You have to have a dedicated plan.

"But I think you can expedite it a little bit."

Go ahead and look up how many times Davidson has implored fans to be patient. It's directed to people with your exact mindset.

I know, but then he might be facing a divorce from his new wife (that only wants to be in NYC or something like that) if he agrees to a trade.

Now we're writing fantasy novels. His fiance needs to be in the US to practice medicine where she is earning her degree and doing her residency. Let's not speculate with absolute nonsense.

Laviolette is a legit NHL coach, Stanley cup winner, has 637 NHL wins, is 75-68 in the playoffs vs 0-3 for Quinn. Why should we let him slip away just to make Quinn happy? It is about what's best for organization, not for Quinn.

I'm fully aware of Laviolette's qualifications. I won't remotely try to argue that he isn't a better coach than Quinn. But I'll repeat my point until it's fully engrained. Laviolette doesn't change the current make-up of this team. End of story. He had significantly better rosters in both Philadelphia and Nashville and still came up short. Are you seriously telling me that he's suddenly going to convert this team into a contender with a defense that consists of Trouba, two rookies, a powerplay specialist, and two wax figures from Madame Tussauds?

A good coach/system makes everybody better. Smith and Staal are here only for 1 more season or less.

A good coach implements a system in which good players work well. Bad players under a good coach mean nothing. If a good coach meant everything then Joel Quenneville would've had a more successful season. He has three Stanley Cups to Laviolette's one. It's almost as though other factors are at play.

Quenneville never coached in Eastern Conference before and it is not his fault Bobrovsky sucked.

Quenneville has coached over 1800 games in his career in the NHL. Do you really think the conference he's coaching in matters at all? This brilliant coach can't find a way to insulate his goalie? I thought good coaches make everyone better? Your words.

Quinn was hired to develop kids. I would argue that he has done a demonstrably good job with Buch, ADA - and for the limited time he has had him - Kakko. (Plus giving Fox and Lindgren the room to run.) I would also argue that developing kids remains job 1 through at least this coming season with the potential emergence of Miiller and Kravtsov. In the meantime, Quinn may get another shot at the playoffs and we can get a larger body of evidence as to whether he can compete as an NHL game coach. But making a move now would show jitters and indecision when JD is trying to project steadiness and a long term plan. Not happening in the extreme.

Head coaches don't coach goalies, goalies can benefit and look better from a good system.
