No...he's not...because he was really hurt. As he is every season. And his team did the prudent thing and weaponized LTIR, in a way that every team should but doesn't for some reason.

Again, this was a bubble team when they made all those moves. It could have backfired on them spectacularly.

If fans are upset, they should be upset that their own team doesn't have the balls that Vegas has.

    This guy is trolling right?

Wennberg had 16:57 TOI in game 1, third only to Trocheck and Panarin among forwards. I can’t see Lavi scratching him after that.

Same lineup or Chytil in for Rempe (and Wennberg to the 4th line) should be the only two options.

Agreed. Chytil can play Rempe’s 7 minutes with the 4th line. That’s a great way to work him back in action if he’s ready. He doesn’t need to go top 9 out of the gate.

These Canes fans are ridiculous. Whiners to the core.. Apparently the TDA penalty was the difference- and it should have been a full 5 on 3 early when Truba smoked Jarvis.

Imagine having a 5 -2 PP advantage and still blaming the refs for the loss. This may be one of the worst fan bases in the NHL

It’s amazing the focus was not on the Rempe “penalty”. Only focusing on the calls against the Canes because the Rangers were good enough to capitalize on it yesterday. Subban immediately crying in the intermission about the DeAngelo call. I don’t see how any objective hockey fan can focus on that call as a soft call before Rempe’s.

By the way, I also would have been totally ok if they didn’t call DeAngelo on that play if they let that shit run both ways. That would not benefit Carolina. They should be careful what they wish for.

BB, why can't NYR special teams dominate ?  I know Canes were tops in ST, but for this game they looked outmatched.

I'd play Matty for sure.  He is the tone setter, the enforcer and embodiment of this team.

I'd rather have my fourth liner be the punisher (4 hits) and if he draws penalties, so be it.  Afterall, he only plays 7 mins.

Yeah, I mean sure, anything can happen over a 7 game series. However, I recall the Rangers’ PP being dominant and scoring 4x in the first 2 games against NJ last year, and proceeding to get 1 in the next 5. NJ was a top 5 PK unit. The point being here is things can change quick in a series, especially if the other team is well rated.

If the tables were flipped yesterday and the Canes were 2/2 on the PP and the Rangers were 0/5 on the PK, I think we’d all be writing it off as an anomaly because of how good the Rangers’ special teams performance was all year, and I think we’d be right to do that.

Yeah, I would expect an even stronger Hurricanes team next game as they stare down the possibility of going down 0-2. Still, though, Zibanejad is in a great groove right now. You can feel it and see it on the ice.

Yup, I don't really care if they were atrocious Canes' mistakes if it gets Zibanejad's confidence up and on a heater. He was also physical on a couple of occasions today. He's not going to get pushed around...real good sign

Coming off one of his best playoff games. If we're getting red hot, insane Mika this postseason, oh man. We're going to be that much tougher to beat.

I hope so. A hot Zib is good enough to be the difference in a series. Once he got hot against Pitts 2 years ago, even if it was aided by the Crosby injury, there was no stopping him. Realistically though, that 1st goal was very uncharacteristic for Carolina. He was all alone in the slot and nobody was within 10 feet of him. I'm also shocked that Kreider to Zib play worked on the PP. The Rangers try that play all of the time. Carolina had 5 days to prepare for this series, they're rivals and have seen that set play before, and you'd think the #1 rated PK unit this year would know what's going on and what to expect. Pretty rough look for Brindamour today if you ask me.

  7. No I wouldn't, and it has almost nothing to do with Rempe. It's clear the NHL has mandated the referees call anything on him that's even vaguely resembling a penalty, and in some cases like today just completely made up stuff. Today also showed you just how important special teams will likely be in this series, and the wild disparity of 2/2 for the Rangers and 0/5 for the Canes is not something likely to be repeated. Can't risk giving them free PPs over a 6-7 minute a game player.
