The Caps don't even belong in the playoffs.  They sold off players at the deadline thinking this year was done, Ovi got hot trying to catch Gretzky, and they backed in like an 18 wheeler at a truck stop.  They're missing 2 defenseman, and fucking McIlrath is a 2nd pair defenseman??????  Yeah, that's a playoff contender!!!

Yeah....play your fucking 4 or 5 playoff bonus games, take your chippy bullshit and go home.  They're not even worth fighting!  They fucking stink!

Indeed. Hopefully they end them in Washington this weekend.

Apparently they have been blind to all the jabbing Oshie does to players during a game.

"You live by the sword, mother fucker, .....you die by it too!"  This team will NOT be intimidated.  Especially by this collection of fucking "has-beens".

I see this round as good practice to work on our playoff "game".  Get tough and dick punch these guys right in the sack.

Yes. They still need to sharpen up a bit, but they'll get there. Some of these mistakes you can get away with against Washington, but will get wrecked against teams like Florida and Carolina. I'm sure they will up their game when that time comes. Also, it's rich hearing that crap from their announcers when they have Oshie, Wilson, etc. Get real. lol

Whats that old song "Ive got a new attitude"? I think Bread took the "critiques" last year to heart about his complete lack of physicality last year, and the 1st round bounce to heart, Man came in w his head shaved and has been the worst nightmare of other teams. He will obviously never be a huge physical presence, nor should he, Not his game.

You could however, see him attempt body checks towards the end of the season when games would get rough. This guy is fully committed to seeing this season through come hell or high water. Commitment!

I fucking love it. Good sign for the Rangers and good for us camp followers!

Indeed. I want this Panarin for the rest of his contract, not just this year. I am hopeful, as he looks like he's completely bought in and the most focused I've seen him, even in his past great seasons here.

If you have to complain about hits from Artemi Panarin, you have to seriously re-evaluate your life choices.

The Capitals announcers, also known as two of the most annoying people on the planet, were screaming bloody murder about it. lol It wasn't even remotely dirty. Panarin has been great all year, but seeing him do something like that? You love to see it. Any fears you may have had about him being rag-dolled again against these guys basically went out the window in game one. Whole different mentality with him and this group.

  5. Still a long way to go, but what's going to happen in Toronto if they lose early again? lol Geez. The Leafs remind me of the Flyers in the sense that they always seem to struggle to find goaltending. I thought Philly might have had that with Carter, but well...you know. Ersson looks like he may be a good one. Maybe Woll can be that guy for Toronto, but I really don't know. They're definitely moving on from Samsonov if he gives them more duds.

  6. You heard he was the kind of guy that would be good for a team that is rebuilding, but I'm not even sure what exactly San Jose is doing right now. lol They kind of haven't really started rebuilding yet, or are in the super early stages of it. Getting the first overall will help.

The first game the Rangers still had Bonino, Wheeler, and Pitlick in the lineup. Brodzinski, too. The second game was the first home game after the west coast trip.

I'm not saying Vegas isn't concerning, I'm saying it's not apples to apples.

Indeed. It's amazing how much dead weight they had in the lineup at once there for awhile. Ugh.

This team didn't play Vegas this season.

True, although Vegas took it to us pretty good in both matchups, is all. I think they were playing pretty well when they played them the first time, but I don't remember. Second time was definitely when they were struggling. Still would probably be a better matchup right now than Dallas, though. Vegas still finds a way to be a pain in the ass, though. lol

I think Vegas may ultimately be tougher for NYR than Dallas. Just a little heavier and meaner with plenty of firepower. DAL losing in the 1st round would send the analytics orthodoxy into a little bit of a crisis, and that can't be all bad. The swooning over them this season has been annoying.

Vegas completely schooled us in both meetings this year. I think you're absolutely right.

It's mind-boggling to me how you can say he's one of the worst coaches you've ever seen and yet somehow try to absolve Gallant, who not only didn't change hardly anything from Quinn's lineup, and actually coached less.

What? How was I absolving Gallant? I said 'one of' the worst in regards to Quinn. Guess who else I would put on that list?

    I don't think that's true. I think he's appropriately appreciated and rated.

He will be remembered as a player that always left you wanting more, he leaves too much on the table.

Even the responses from the stans to those who are critical never really directly rebut the criticism.

He doesn't use his speed or size, yeah but he scores goals.

He handles the puck like a hand grenade, yeah but he's statistically good at 5v5.

None of those actually answer the criticisms, at least @Phil is honest and says he just doesn't care about the shortcomings.

Nobody's knocking the guy as a goal scorer. But a lot of people can see he's capable of much more.

So yeah, when I see that he has the most playoff goals for a Ranger, the first thing that comes to mind is that he could easily have many more if he utilized his skill set to its fullest potential.

It doesn't really bother me either, but it's definitely clear he doesn't use his full skill set. I just think sometimes some may take that net presence for granted, especially when I remember they went years without someone like that. That's basically it, I guess.

i'd say one of the most overrated/overappreciated rangers ever.  And he's an asshole as a human being

I don't think so. I think he'll be missed when he's gone. I remember for years the Rangers didn't have guys that stood in front of the net and was a presence there, and fans bitched about it. Now they do, and they bitch about it. Again, he has plenty of faults and should definitely do a little more for this size and skating. But, he deserves plenty of kudos for what he does well. As we know, a lot of players aren't willing to do that all or most of the time.
