Letting Vatrano walk after finding chemistry on that line. There are replaceable pieces to be waived/ moved to accommodate the complementary pieces for the top 6. Cap rises and Goodrow is traded, waived, whatever. Jonny Brodzinski between Edstrom and Rempe is a helluva hardworking forechecking line.

If it can be fixed for a mid-late round pick at the deadline, it's not a mistake to let the player walk. It's a mistake to pay the player too much for that short sample.

  2. The problem, so to speak, is that if it works, Roslovic stands to make a good deal more than the 2m we're paying right now. If it really works and there's a ring on his finger at the end of it all, even more so.

The piece of it that has me curious is that both Wennberg and Roslovic were overpaid for what they contributed to their last teams, and they're precisely the kind of middle-of-the-lineup players that get squeezed by the cap. I wouldn't be shocked if there was a bit of a "go see if you can get paid, but don't take an offer over X without coming back to me" situation in play if this works well enough.

    Playoffs my man, playoffs.

Every time I start thinking about bagels I end up having one instead of recording. I reset and then repeat. It’s a vicious cycle. The bagel game ain’t no joke.

They're just so wonderful. Perfectly crafted dough circles, flecked with salt and onion and poppy seeds, or delicately adorned with raisins, topped with glorious gobs of cream cheese and delicious lox. Or, lovingly kissed with heat for that perfect combination of crunch and chew, with a perfectly fried omelet, gooey cheese, delicious bacon, salt, pepper, ketchup, maybe a dash of hot sauce.

Truly, a gift from the heavens. Bagels. I love them so.

I'm not too familiar with jfresh models, but the implication of his strength being a playmaker bodes well for what I want to see next to Zib.

    I'm intrigued.

Yeah. You look at that and you see a puck transporter who wins battles and draws penalties, but leaves something to be desired in scoring. I'm discounting the Defense rating there; I assume that being on Columbus is just a recipe for getting caved.

He's a great skater too. Might be a decent fit.

I mean, you have to pivot to St. Louis here, no? I’ve read the reports of us not really having interest in Buchnevich. But with this happening, our top 2 competitors in the East have gotten a lot better the last 2 days.

Them or the Devils. Buchnevich or Toffoli should be top of the list here.

Either that, or go wildcard. Whatever you were comfortable giving up for Guentzel, maybe you're comfortable giving up for a player of similar caliber that we hadn't thought of yet or wasn't readily available without this bigger offer.

None of these teams have the cap space to get this guy. There's no doubt going to be a 3rd party to get a deal done with anyone

I want no part of this guy here at these rumored costs.

Go get Eberle,  Zucker, Smith or Olofsson and more. Everyone is going to be tapped out and the Rangers could maybe swoop in and get 3 decent players for insurance as all the teams looking for help will have already made their deals.

Carolina sending Bunting the other way basically ends that thought.

  7. That feels....I don't know...duplicitous?

We've heard for weeks "No Kakko, No Othmann, No Perreault". Now - yeah, ok, Guentzel's the best on the market. I get that.

But then you look at Carolina. And Vegas. And Vancouver. And us. And the price is 1st+A level prospect? Carolina has one A-level prospect and they're not moving Nikishin for a rental. Vegas doesn't have a prospect. I'm reasonably sure they haven't made a draft pick in four years. Vancouver has no A-level prospects.

That price is coming down, imo.
