It's not really a strange movement at all and it's perfectly logical to hold the glove fingers up with the T of the glove point upward in the majority of situations. The puck is almost always coming from the ice upward to the glove and it's more natural to catch from that position compared to the older style goalies who had their gloves more down and to the side because you'd have to windmill your arm to catch the puck which would more often than not allow the puck to go past you when you were moving. When you have to be in perfect position and play the percentages, it's better to have your hands up like most goalies do now since you're in a better middle position.

I like this look a lot. it has a nice mix of throwback and modern. I wouldn't mind seeing black fingers on the gloves but I think it's cool as is.

If I were the coach I'd be telling every player to go out for their shift with the goal of spearing someone's sack and just repeat that over and over again.

There comes a point where too much modesty creates a bunch of walking canned intermission interview answers though. Growing up we'd watch the VHS hockey tapes that would show Theo Fleury's first goal celebration, showing Tie Domi sitting on his stick like Tiger Williams, and Selanne throwing his glove up in the air to shoot it etc, and as kids we'd all try to emulate that stuff. It made things fun, and that fun has always been the greatest part about hockey despite all the hard work anyone puts into it. I wouldn't expect everyone to go crazy, but I'm more in the position that people shouldn't have to hold back because they want to be perceived a certain way. In any case, Lafreniere is most likely under a lot of pressure right now to be an impact player, and if he can let loose a little when he's comfy, so be it.

This is an area where Buch showed great improvement (he used to look like he just got yelled at his dad for not scoring a nicer goal no matter what happened). So maybe there is hope for Lafreniere.

Looks like if you tried to make a mashup with the New York Islanders and the Rangers. Simple can be done right but this feels more like clipart than thought out minimalism.

Definitely one of my favorite places to play which I was lucky to do quite a bit.

Not a fan of the Columbus Blue Jacket gloves they used. The Rangers have had a very specific glove color scheme for a long time and they could have remixed that instead of changing it completely, but oh well.

I think the lack of red collar could work but not if there was so much blue.

The printed pads look cheap and most of the designs look like they were made by someone that is new to Adobe Illustrator and approaches everything from a generic clip art style. The print technology isn't quite there yet either, which shows in their issues with color matching, and the material has had durability issues. The original argument was that it saved weight, but other companies have been able to produce traditionally constructed pads that are super light and look a lot more premium with stitched layers.

If I was going for a more remixed vibe I'd have made the sleeve part that used to be red white. Also, the numbers seem a bit odd since the previous liberty jerseys had more legible numbers that popped more. However, once they are in motion I'm sure it will be fine, but in a lot of cases it looks like teams could have made some minor tweaks that would improve the designs by a great margin. The Dallas Stars are a better example though.

Watching this series was like watching a second year pee wee team play against bantams.

Love the uniforms and the color scheme. Looking forward to glove/pant/sock designs to see how it all comes together, since there is a lot of potential for greatness.

I'm working six days a week helping two 81/91 year old artists, trying to prevent them from getting sick while also doing my best not to be a vector. Fun times! Biking from BK to SoHo instead of taking the train. My hands are so dry and irritated haha.

I'm biased against him because his play away from the puck and defensively often had him making the wrong choices, and his effort levels seemed more in line with the typical player who comes to NY with promise only to underachieve and then fall into slumps and invisibility. I'd expect him to have a career year playing for a contract, but even then there was a lot about his game to be frustrated with.

Whatever kind of player Hayes ends up being, wouldn't have been the same Hayes if he had stayed in NY. I feel like he was locked into a downward path here so getting out was the best for everyone.

I'm not used to seeing such creative plays being made by the team! Also, it's a noticeable difference to have guys like Trouba and Panarin on the ice commanding respect as puck carriers and when they don't have the puck.
