  1. You know what?s really cool... when Paul and I grab beers we talk about all of the Stanley Cups we have won combined... which is ZERO. You need to start making better arguments to support getting rid of Quinn. So far they don?t hold water.
  2. 100% correct.. Same with Lou Lamoriello- Left Toronto with some really shitty deals that Dubas had to clean up- trading a 1st to get rid of Marleau- the horrid Nikita Zaitsev deal.. Sometimes the geniuses aren't that smart.
  3. Wasn't there a little too much smoke about him loving the smell of cocaine?
  4. GM's need to quit being such pussies about the RFA market.. GM's had every opportunity in the world to get a guy locked up before he it the market for as a RFA, they should take the medicine for not getting the contract locked down.. The current reticence to pursue RFA's (Montreal being an outlier {Their offer was shit by the way, thay made it way too east to match}) is borderline collusion.
  5. They brought in Shatt when Vigneault was here. At least try and make your point factually accurate
  6. MOST top picks that ascend to the captaincy ASAP are drafted on to really bad teams, in various forms of rebuild or change. Our #1 is joining a young team already on the upswing.. A young team with some established veteran players who are still at the top of their games. We have to remember that had the season played our without any interruptions, we probably would have been picking in the 16 range. As a general aside, I'm not in the room, not on the road trips, and not at practice... So I'd be talking out of my ass if I acted like I had ANY idea what the leadership core does behind closed doors. If and when they pick a C, I'm sure it will be based on a whole bunch of information that none of us are privy to.
  7. He's like a 6'5 lefty that can throw 95.. He's going to keep getting chances even if he can't throw strikes.... You just hope to be the organization that has him when he learns how to pitch.
  8. That package plus taking Hank's full contract (and letting them buy him out) and Smith and I'd think about it.
  9. Laine, Matthews, Dahlin.... The year prior was McDavid and Eichel He also did a poll of NHL scouts and had them rank the last 10 #1 picks.. Had Lafreniere #5 behind McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, and Dahlin. The kid is gong to be a stud
  10. Corey Pronman ranked the top 31 prospects from the last 5 drafts.. He has Lafreniere #4 overall https://theathletic.com/1797661/2020/06/23/pronman-top-31-nhl-draft-prospects-of-the-past-five-years-2020-edition/
  11. The off the board stuff stopped being a concern the day JD came on board.. Take the BPA and let the rest sort itself out.
  12. Out of curiosity- are we getting the Laviolette who won the cup in Carolina, or took an over achieving team to the Finals in Philly in his first year.. Or the coach whose team under-performed in 8 of his last 10 years? Since we are getting to cherry pick, I'd prefer the Carolina version.
  13. We don't need any more 1st's.. we don't need any more prospects.. We need young, NHL talent. We need a bottom 6.. We need 2 more defensive parings, including a #1 pair.. I don't understand A) your infatuation with trading Trouba B) The desire to trade from a position of weakness to get even younger and more inexperienced... Trade Trouba for a 1st and a prospect and I promise you will be the 1st guy bitching for Quinn's head when an even less experienced roster misses the playoffs in 2021.
  14. sar?casm /ˈs?rˌkazəm/ noun the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. Its a joke dude.. Edmonton and Pittsburgh always seem to have a horseshoe up their ass from a lottery luck perspective.
  15. Jeff Spicoli in the morgue, looking at the results of the MacTruck / Miller trade laid out on the table:
  16. The trade is at present an unmitigated disaster- Hajek- Struggle bus.. He's been unimpressive (that's me being nice) Howden- based on what we have seen, he's a JAG. His ceiling is a easily replaceable 4th line C. Namestinkov- Turned him in to Nick Ebert and a conditional 4th next year. Not exactly a king's ransom 2018 1st Rounder- Nils Lundqvist- I hate to do it, but the entire trade rides on his success. 2019 2nd rounder- Karl Henriksson
  17. Unless Pittsburgh or Edmonton lose in the play in.. If either lose they immediately have a 93.8% chance of winning the top pick.. If both lose, despite mathematical probabilities saying otherwise, they each have a 78% chance of getting the #1 pick.
  18. You all know in your hearts and minds that if Montreal wins, Pittsburgh instantly has a 94.9% chance of winning the lottery.
  19. Would be the optimal solution.. but it happens so rarely it's hard to get excited about
  20. Its a dead cap of 5 mill next year, and 1.5 the following. If they were a 3 million dollar player away from a cup next year I'd be all for it. I don't think the short term benefit in 2021 is worth the extra dollars in 2022 (for Smith, Staal, or Hank).. I'm sure JD is super interested in my thoughts on the process
  21. As much as it sucks, I'd rather keep all 3 turd contracts and just let them go away when they expire.. The dead money is sub-optimal
  22. There are so few irreplaceable players on this team its hardly worth discussion. The entirety of the bottom 6 is replaceable (presuming Kakko is a top 6 guy next year). Start there to answer your initial question. We need to find grit that can play, not just grit for the sake of irritation. We don;t have much in the way of grit with talent.
  23. Maroon was EXACTLY the guy I was thinking. Need to find the 24 year old version of Scott Hartnell somewhere.
  24. I agree in concept.. but Chytil has 144 regular season games under his belt.. He's still a bit of a schizo who goes missing for long stretches too often. He needs to come to camp a much different guy I think.
