Gotta respectfully push back on this. Yeah we had a couple of very impressive winning streaks (by the numbers) but but we almost never looked like world beaters while doing it.

Yeah I know but some folks around here get a little twitchy at the idea of what happens to Presidents trophy winners.

They have lost three in a row so they are going to be in a nasty mood to begin with. Both teams look at each other as a very possible Eastern conference final opponent and so there is zero chance that either of these teams are looking past the other one. Oh and somebody has to win the Presidents trophy although everyone seems to not really want it right now. Should be a fun game. I expect Rempe to be a heat seeking missile out there tonight, albeit one without any wings.

I know the GM assembled a bad roster over there but I am shocked how easily they folded up their tent and quit on the season.

We have to be in their heads at this point.

Cuylle is established now which is no small thing for a rookie player. Earlier than any of us expected TBH but this new line if it allowed to settle in may end up with him getting a lot more scoring chances. Wennberg is fitting in beautifully after two games and I think there is even more to come. I never say this about any player. It is a bit of a jinx but Kakko feels to me like he is about to turn a real corner with his new line mates.

The other part of all of this and one that is so obvious that almost nobody even mentions it anymore is that in his limited time on ice we are a plus hockey team. In other words he HAS NOT been a liability out there. None of the rest of it works if he were giving away pucks and causing high danger scoring chances against. Truly remarkable

He is effective at screening the goalie. He is highly effective with legal hits and he has shown the ability to steal a puck here or there with his long stick. None of these things are impacted if he reduces the "dirty" part of his game. I agree with the idea that he needs minutes on the ice. Not only to improve his skills but also to increase the wear and tear on opponents which is a cumulative thing. All of this is possible if he is not taking game misconducts or suspensions.

I am fine with the penalty whatever it is so long as he makes adjustments moving forward. He is making a difference with his play on the ice and some minor changes to his approach will enable him to stay on it while still being an intimidating presence,

A nice opportunity to drive a nail into the NJ Devils coffin here tonight. That is a soft team over there and it folds up tent if it gets hit often enough and hard enough. No reason to vary the script this evening.
