9-1 in their last 10.
They're fine.
Agreed, not particularly worried. The record would've been nice, but whatever.
Still gotta work on getting those shots against down though. -
Man, sometimes Miller makes it really, REALLY hard to keep rooting for him......

Im also not watching the 2nd period. I've done that the past 5 games (not sure how or why) and it seems to work.
Im not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.

Even though this looks like a win on paper, get the feeling it'll be low scoring. Because Rangers. Going 3-1 for the good guys. LGR!!

Hell yes, 10 in a freaking row!!
If we can just get those shots against down, and find our PP again, we're looking really, really good coming up to the postseason.

Absolutely agree - watching the Twin Towers out there has been exciting.

I'm starting to think very much the same way. For the first time I can remember, we've found solutions from within! Players that can fit the style of the coach and the system.
These kids might be a little young, or it may be "too soon" for some, but if we're going to bring in anyone that moves the needle, they have a helluva task to uphold.
You gotta love what these kids in the system represent for our future, seeing some very positive styles shining through.

Why does all the trade chatter lately seem to focus on C and not RW? That has me a little concerned, unless I missed something.

I'd pass on this. Quite comfortable with the way the 3rd line is playing, their chemistry seems to be clicking. If I had to put all my eggs in one basket, would much rather look at the 1RW spot to fill.

A nail biter at the end, but what a fun game to watch. One of the more complete games I've seen from them this season, though if we could cut down on the shots allowed that would be great. And not to harp on it, but once again that 3rd line *chefs kiss*.

As much as I'd love this to be a statement win, I get the feeling our Sloppiness/luck combo wears out and bites us in the ass. 4-1 Stars.

I’d argue that that chemistry is being made happen by Cuylle and Krappo’s work
Won't argue that, it's been a pleasure watching them play. But I think Brodz has been servicable. Not spectacular or anything, but he's getting the job done.

I really don't want Henrique anymore.
1. Phil hates him
2. I don't know if he really is the solution for us
3. I'm liking Jonny Brodz in there and I think he's ready to take on the playoffs.
4. I'd rather have RW that makes Zibby and Krieder a force again
5. I don't really have a #5, but I hate even numbers on lists!
Especially #3. Never been a big fan of Brodz as a permanent solution in that 3rd pairing, but you can't deny the chemistry that line has had during this 6 game swing. He's not perfect, but I feel he's enough to get us through the season.

Rangers are incredibly lucky if he is out for the season, because he doesn't make it a tough choice. He needed to go, and now they can pull the trigger on a trade and not have to worry about it.
Not gonna lie, thought the same thing. Makes the search for a top 6 RW even more crucial at this point. Does this open up any more cap space? I'm not as versed on LTIR as most of you.

So with knowing 1st round picks are likely off the table and the desire to keep Kakko around....who are we dealing that seems worthwhile for teams to give up a top 6 RW and middle 6 C?
Our capital for making these moves are Kakko, Zac Jones and mid round picks. I don't see much we have to offer. You figure Othmann and Perrault are non starters for us as well.
I'm not as convinced anymore that they're looking for a 3C, kinda get the feeling they're fine with Cuylle/Brodz/Kakko. Not that this answers your question at all, just a feeling I get.
My bigger concern is that getting rid of Kakko in a deal for a top 6 RW, then kinda ruins that 3rd line chemistry. Obviously you slot Wheeler down there, which slows down the line in general, as well as takes away their energy & defensive responsibilities. All of which Wheeler ain't got. -

And Gus ain't coming back as cheap as we got him this year
Unfortunately, agreed. I like the guy.

Chicago needs to activate Rem Pitlick. I really want to hear Sam stroking out when both Pitlicks are on the ice.

While I tend to agree that there's no UFA currently listed that I'd use my 1st round pick on exclusively, what if it was in a package deal? How would y'all feel if it was 1st pick + assets (not named Othman) to Anaheim for both Henrique & Vatrano? Honestly I'm not *totally* against it, depnding on the assets.

After what I watched last night, before figuring out the RW situation for that line, they need to figure out how to get the 2 guys already on that line to get going consistently. What’s been said about Zibanejad has been said. But man, what about Kreider? I was talking a little bit about it in the GDT last night with Pete, but can he be anymore of a passenger? Not just as far as driving play, but as far as simple things where it just seems like he is beyond blasé in almost every single facet of the game.
We have all seen those 2 play with more passion and more energy and more confidence. And I’m not saying that every single second is like a Game 7 across 82 games. But Kreider literally looked like he was treating last night like a free skate on an off-day in October. He really needs to screw his head on straight and get back into the thick of things here. We can all see Mika gripping the stick too hard. But Kreider needs to start treating these games like they’re something more than preseason games too if we have any hope of seeing that line wake up.
100% this. I know he's getting the odd goal here and there, but man does he look completely different. He's not driving to the net much for those tip-ins, don't see much of the speed & hustle we know he has, even his passes seem half-assed. He's just a passenger at this point. A part of me wonders if that's actually affecting Zib more than we think, since he's trying to make plays with a non-existent Kreids, and Wheeler on the other side who enters the zone a full half hour after the play has ended.

Missed the game last night, checked the box scores this morning to see that we won thanks to goals from *checks notes*........Vesey and Brodz.
Huh. Did not see that coming. -
I'm ready for the Tyler Motte tribute video.

Watching the game last night, the 3rd line, or should I say specifically Kakko and Cuylle, stood out. They were all over the place and for a while seemed to be the only line generating anything the 1st 2 periods. I'm more and more intrigued with seeing them anchored by a solid center.

Dealing Kakko in this deal would make little to no sense. It’s robbing Peter to pay Paul, at least in terms of the 3rd line. We have a hole at 3C that acquiring Henrique would fix, but dealing Kakko would also open a hole on one of the wings that we can’t fix in-house. I get that acquiring Vatrano also would be a get, and that you need to pay to acquire talent in this league. But I’m not interested in creating more big holes in the lineup, even if others are fixed. I get that Kakko isn’t everyone’s flavor of the week, rightfully so. But I’d be intrigued by a Cuylle-Henrique-Kakko trio, especially if Vatrano can come back and find that spark with Kreider and Zibanejad again.
Agreed. As much as I'm not totally sold on Henrique, I'm interested in seeing that 3rd line together.

Not a bad idea - rumor is that Nashville is shopping just about everyone. Even Saros was mentioned at one point. Problem is, they've been making a surge lately, so who knows if the appetite is still there.
