I don't want to see Tampa not because I don't think we can beat them, but because I think it would very likely take more games to do it. I want the best opportunity to get through the first round in fewer games and I think PHI or WAS would provide that. This is almost literally a death march - as in death=elimination. The more games we avoid playing early, the more fuel we'll have in the tank for later rounds.
Pretty much my line of thought as well. I also think we can go toe to toe against any team right now, but if we can take out the 1st round opponent quicker and not drag every series into a 7 game slugfest, giving the boys some rest between the next round, I'm all for it. Looking at first round potential matchups, I think TB has the experience to take the series longer than we want it to be.

Was not aware the Avs were using the Flyers lineup for this game lol

Rangers 5-4 with a scrappy win, 1st team to reach 100 pts.
Trivia is Kevin Hayes (no relation to Rutherford B Hayes)- 1

Looks like the Caps are going to over take the Flyers. If so I much rather finish in first in the conference and play the Flyers than play either the Lightning or Caps. Resting players is great but having an easier first round opponent is more important in my opinion.
I actually wouldn't mind the Caps, or Flyers. Lightning worry me the most.......depending which Lightning team shows up.

Getting a little thin on the back end. Who steps in, Scanlin?
-
All good points - honestly, think I've been focusing a little more on Wennberg than Ros, but will pay more attention the next few games.

I like the guy, feel like he's a definite upgrade from Wheeler and/or any other winger we've had on that line this season........but I'm not seeing what y'all are? Admittedly small sample size, but I don't think he's blowing me away so far. He's getting the job done I guess, and I'm really hoping for him hitting a stride & producing more over the next 12 games and playoffs,,,,,,just don't see anything yet that makes me say yeah, we need to keep him after this season.

Kinda wish they'd keep Miller/Schneider together and put Gus with Fox. Is this the same D pairings they used for the last game?

Did we just get goals from all 4 lines?
When the hell is the last time that happened??

Helluva win, love to see NJ taken out. And interestingly, we've been playing some of our best hockey with Trouba out. Shots against are down, HDC, whole team seems to be playing their system......what is going on here?

Shout out to @Phil - he looked great last night! I stand corrected.

Eh, would have rather seen Edstrom stick around. I like the energy Rempe brings, but the way he hits are borderline and can lead to dumb penalties. Felt like Big Ed was quietly doing exactly what he needed to and held things down defensively.

Not sure this has been mentioned, but I've heard Toffoli from the Devils possibly available in a few articles. RW, having a great year, think he leads the team in scoring.

I get the Win Now philosophy, and agree to an extent, but that hurts to read.........

Was a little surpised how little FLA gave up for Tarasenko.

Don't like anything about this matchup tonight, but hoping Igor can keep it manageable.

My notes from the game:
- Saw Verbeek as soon as they opened the gates. Something's going on with Anaheim...no doubt!
- Rempe came out before practice in shorts and a tee shirt; Kid looks like he can hide behind a microphone stand! Everybody went fucking crazy when they saw him.
- The ice was really fucking bad last night. Never saw so many people out there fixing it during TV timeouts
- Fox' chin is actually bigger in person!
- So is Edstrom's. Edstrom is a hulk by the way! That guy gains 10 pounds of muscle and he's gonna be a force!
I watched Igor really closely last night. I was in section 105, row 7, which is right where they come on and off the ice. He was solid! His was beating the play across on east/west shit, and seemed to see everything in front of him. He got a little careless in the 2nd period where he almost fucked one away, and then in the 3rd he did! Fucking stupid play, trying to do too much and it blew up in his face. Other than that though, you guys can close the thread about Igor. He's back! His movements looked pretty good to me, with no sign of lingering injury any more!
Wasn't the best game to watch, but I'll take the win and hope we go on another 10 game tear.
One thing I thought, was the 4th line looked a little.....clunky, I guess? Just disjointed at times. Not sure, could've just been me.
My big take away was that Igor looked solid, as he has since the All Star break, and for once they held an opponent to under 40 shots!- 1

I have to admit ,the blue jackets have some very good talented young forwads ,with size and grit
And us stealing the Bread man doesn't help
That Russian line is fun to watch, could be a beast in another year or two.

KEEPER!
Yeah man, I love the guy. Not the best defensively, but there's "intangibles" (and I cringe using that word) that he uses very well. And at the expected price point, I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have. That being said, not adverse to switching up some of the D pairs.

If he was available, I'd kill to see that line again - Kreids, Zib and Zucc.
